It's definitely not bad but for close to the same price, you can walk into a buffet and load up a to-go box with more choices and usually better tasting food.

And don't tell me the "Orange Chicken is crack".

For the same price you can gain three pounds.

    If you want.

Or for the same price, you can get the same amount of food with better variety and in most cases, better taste.

You've been on a Pasadena kick. It's a city I've been to a few times cos the Rose Bowl. I've driven past it some other times probably. But not too familiar with it.
It seems like the right combo of stuff and not too busy though. It'd be good to live if you wanted/needed to frequent LA/Hollywood. It's just close enough but yet out of the way.

I can accept this based on Panda getting rid of the bbq pork.
But before that occurred, the triple combo with orange chicken, bbq pork, and grilled terriyaki chicken was the sh**.
If only I knew to enjoy that while it lasted.

Chinese buffets are terrible quality. I've been to about 30 different ones in like 6 different states (mostly Texas) in my lifetime and they're all about the same. Lukewarm reheated overly salted under seasoned food. Panda Express is no better, though. Neither are its compe ors. My favorite Chinese in San Antonio is Wok Inn (sit down, not a buffet or take out) and my favorite Chinese I've ever had is a place in Lindenwold New Jersey, in 2009... they had both take out and dine in.

Yeah...I used to work at a job that took me to that area three times a year. My boss was pretty cool in that we'd normally eat at pretty good restaurants. One that we always went to was Panda Inn and I always looked forward to it.
If it was late, we'd always run through In N Out.

The other thing I remember was going to a casino called, "Mongo Casino". It was probably filled with 90% Asian people and so full of smoke, it was hard to breath. But at the time, I was happy to just be able to gamble.

    Edit...it's actually "Morongo Casino".

Similar situation here. There's a Chinese place that gives about 30 percent more than Panda for 85 percent of the price. But the orange chicken is more crackly and the rice is clumpier.

Got one of those quick onset 24 hour food poisonings from Panda. Can't go back.

i havent been to panda since moving here though. one of the best food places we've found here is a small mom and pop chinese joint. food is better than panda. well-priced too. about once a month or so we'll order ~50 worth of takeout, have it for dinner on friday, and then for a meal on each of Sat and Sun.

I don't eat that "chino cochino"... it's either sit down high quality stuff or nothing for me, I guess because I'm an old man now. That sodium nuke greasy Chinese food is awful; I left that behind in my teens. I don't care if it's $7.99 plus tax for 3000+ calories worth of unlimited lukewarm Chinese/Asian Fusion food, it's not worth damaging my body over mediocre food.

You'd think where you're at in California there would be much better quality Chinese places since there are millions of actual ethnically Chinese/Asian people in CA, especially in and around LA and SF.

Guilty. I'd eat that 2-entree plate with Orange Chicken and Beijing Beef once a week if it wouldn't kill me.

Nah. One of the less popular ones. I would never give up Mexican (or Italian).

Sure. Probably. I've never been so big on Chinese food to search too hard for it though. Plus the gems tend to be in the urban areas; and I'm in suburbs.

Agreed. Unless you have a gem like Wok Inn in San Antonio that exists in the suburban areas. NYC has some good ones in Manhattan, of course that's urban though. As I discussed, NJ as well. But haven't found a DFW-area equivalent. And Michigan (at least my half of Michigan) sucks for anything that isn't American food.

If ur in San Antonio then y’all better be hitting up New Asia. That place has the best lemon chicken in town. But here where I’m at, sadly Panda is better than the majority of Chinese food places. Though I did find one aight buffet here. I’m told I have to go to Chinatown but that place is like 40 minutes away and I ain’t driving that far for food.

Lemon Chicken is meh... where are you living if not in SA though? Please don't tell me you're in CA and can't find Chinese food

What i've been looking for a long time is Chicken Lemon Grass. Haven't eaten any since April of 2005. It was my favorite thing at HEB when they used to have the Chinese Kitchen before they stopped doing that concept later that year.

Chow mein is good too. Everything else on the menu is pretty outside of orange chicken + chow mein though. Don't understand how they can make those two things so well and everything else I have ever tried there is bland as .

I’m down in Htown which you would think has a buncha good Chinese places but from my experience they all kinda suck. But everyone tells me I gotta go to Chinatown here but man that’s far from my place.
