Except for current, 2 times MVP?

More or less agreed with everything else.
Current rebuild system is fine, but you need some ruthlessness instead of keeping the likes of Patty.
Players who have value, but only if you're contending.

We could've surely had a pick for Patty/Rudy package.

Demar should've been traded last summer, but since he stayed, I feel like S&T in summer is a better option.
Patty functions as a security blanket for Pop. The last semblance of the 2014 Spurs. It's why he begged Duncan to take the assistant job last season. He needs familiar faces amongst this crop of youngsters and headcases.

    Doesn't matter.
Picks in mid-late lottery are good enough.
    Jokic was a second rounder.

It's all about competence of the front office.
If you're incompetent, picks don't matter (see Wolves, Kings or Knicks).

Unfortunately, our front office is incompetent. At least when it comes to trades. Drafting is still good.
The exceptions are few and far between though. That kind of mentality will have us wallowing in mediocrity for the next decade

    Which kind of mentality?
I personally hate the concept of tanking, Miami never tanked, they lost Lebron for free. Situation comparable to ours. Look at them now.

But they have a competent front office.

Here I am at 2;30 AM like the addicted Spurs methhead, I've become. At least, today's FO moves mean its worth it, right?
Keep the faith Bill. Not our greatest day.
Glass half full - genuinely like the majority of players on this team, and no doubting as far as pro. athletes are concerned - good people.

Get a little dose of Luka, some improved play from the core and let’s see what happens.

That we should be a treadmill team settling for mid first rounders and fighting to get swept in the first round. Miami also signed a top 15 player in free agency because of where they are. Spurs do not have that luxury so the comparison is meaningless

    They're also a desirable market.

Harden, Durant, and Kyrie are all in NY because it's a desirable market. Jimmy chose Miami because of the market. Kawhi chose LA instead of running it back with Toronto for a shot at a repeat.

I obviously referred to the Knicks, but since you mentioned it, even better.
Noone wanted to go to Brooklyn until Marks turned things around.

Big market is an advantage, but doesn't mean if people running the team are incompetent.
