Prosecutors drop sex case against Bryant

    Associated Press

EAGLE, Colo. - The Kobe Bryant case collapsed Wednesday as prosecutors said they had no choice but to drop the sexual assault charge against the NBA star because the alleged victim could no longer participate.

With the parents of the 20-year-old accuser looking on, District Judge Terry Ruckriegle threw out the case under a deal that means no charges will be refiled.

"The people have filed a motion to dismiss this case based on the fact the sole victim at this time is unable to go forward," District Attorney Mark Hurlbert told the judge.

Bryant still faces a federal civil lawsuit filed by the accuser that seeks unspecified damages.

That is the problem with these kids today...They don’t read our books, they don’t listen to the old school players, they think they know everything!

With what this has cost Kobe he could have had a “Supermodel /escort" every night for the rest of his life...?

Say the total cost was $10,000,000 to get out of this... $200 a night for an escort gives us 50,000 escorts... Divide by 365 days per year equals 136 years.... And that's a new one every night!!! Heck he could even double or triple up and never reach what this cost him!!!!

That is some serious BOOTAY...Now that's what I'm talking about!

You are gonna get a skank for $200 a night...it would be more like $2000-4000/night for some prime grade A pussy. :p That being said, he still could have gotten that for 40 yrs with the amt of money this rape cost him is legal fees and lost endorsement money.

Has inflation gone up that much? Back in my day a "HOT DATE" was about $75.00...Steak & lobster dinner was $50.00... Roses the next morning was $25.00...(We didn't have Viagra & those long bus rides could be exhausting, always send roses to keep em quiet...)

I thought I was being generous with the $200.00 figure for an Escort...It has been a while since I have been out on the town...I better go back to the drawing board...

Checkbook nothing. This is the power of Innocent Until Proven Guilty.

Does anyone have any tangible reason to believe he's guilty other than the fact that he's rich, he's male, or he's a Laker?

The cost of Kobe's make up ring to his wife could have gotten him 50 proffesional mistresses for 20 years. What was he thinking? "Um, ok, got the sodas, ice, and now to pick up a chick on the way back to the room." Didn't that hotel have spectravision? One $3.99 movie could have saved him $30 million bucks!

Word. The only other ones people say or don't say is because he's arrogant and because he's black.

They had almost nothing on him but people want to believe he was guilty more than the evedince showing he wasn't.

Excellent point 2Cleva. I totally agree.

The problem with Kobe is that he is just one of those people that people love to hate. Maybe due to his success, maybe due to his over confidence, etc. Still, regardless, he is a great basketball player, and he is one of the few b ball players that are fun to watch. I bet if it weren't for this whole rape trial and his rep being tarnished, in a couple more years, people would have started comparing him to Jordan.

If he has a career year this year the public will quickly forgive... the comparisons won't stop as long as his performances continue to impress
