Missed the first half. What's the story of the game? Thanks in advance.

I have to say, Lonnie has noticeably improved (probably for good?). I remember early on during the season, he would play invisible throughout the entire game. Now, you can sort of feel his impact when he's in the game.

Liking the defense from White/Eubanks. More Poetl plays, less I like. He's pretty inept on offense. Creates major spacing problems on offense.
Eh, defenses aren't packing the paint because of Poeltl - he's hardly the main reason for the Spurs' spacing woes. Now, we do have a star player that refuses to shoot anywhere beyond the 3pt line, and knowing the midrange and paint are his bread & butter, it's easy enough for teams to pack the paint against us and dare the Spurs to shoot. Poeltl not being a shooter is hardly a dent to that strategy, considering we already have numerous players that should be spacing the floor, but in reality are averse to shooting 3s (Keldon, Murray, etc)

yeah brother, Lonnie praise I'm here for it

I've noticed the improvement too. He's still overpassing a bit, but has noticeably reduced it, and is also much less hesitant to let it fly when he gets a pass on the perimeter. Also driving to the rim with more purpose, even if he's not making all his looks. I still maintain that he's a year away, and will look (like Keldon) significantly better once he doesn't have to meet an entire 5-man unit of defenders every time he tries to drive. DeRozan is just so warping on offense...

I think we need a better nickname than Eeuubanks. He's shooting perfect for the night so far. My suggestion, in honor of one of the loudest mouths ever to be seen on Spurstalk: Drewshow

People thinking the Spurs will tank

They still might lose this game, but not because of tanking. It would be because they tried their best and still lost.

Exactly... warriors, rockets, etc all had centers that couldn't shoot for , but they were some 9f the best offensive teams ever

Don't wanna leave my guy hangin'. Spurs aren't playing all that well, yet are weirdly up against an undermanned (only Dame is out AFAIK) Blazers squad. Luka not getting minutes per par, Rudy and Chucky getting overplayed per par, just the stuff we're used to.

Great sig changes btw, yours is a sig I can never "ignore" lol

Not gonna lie, I'm conflicted agreeing with you, but - exactly. Even this season, there's elite teams like the Jazz that sport a starting, non-shooting C. The truth is that you don't need a starting, shooting C, if the rest of your starting lineup is up-to-date on the modern NBA game and can shoot adequately. But on the Spurs current roster, Poeltl's inability to shoot is over-magnified due to the numerous shooting liabilities also in that lineup, in DeRozan obviously, but also Keldon and DJ not being truly shooters but penetrators.

Exactly. They will never tank but they will miss the playoffs cause of their inconsistent effort. It’s so annoying when they lose against short handed teams but they show up for games like tonight.
