Here’s how I make sure I don’t get bombarded with politics when watching sports.

    1. I just watch the games.
    2. I don’t spend my entire existence worried about what LeBron says when he’s not on the court, or what Fox News says about what LeBron says.

I’m guessing OP spends WAY more time fixated on #2 than #1.
that's true. IMO, I was just looking at it from an outsider perspective. Like I mentioned earlier, I stopped following sports when I did just because it was too time consuming; didn't really have anything to do with politics at the time. Just pointing out things that I find are over the top nowadays whenever I do find myself watching a game. Having commentators/ESPN analysts basically tell me ( a grown adult ) how to think and who to vote for would get tiresome. Both liberal and conservative. Mainstream media obviously leans left, but I also get nauseated hearing conservatives whine about Pedro/Tyrone all the time. But to your point, I think it is also equally autistic for someone to completely stop watching because they get too offended by politics and can't separate the two.

Cool and how do you avoid hearing what ESPN says about what LeBron says while the game airs on ESPN?

Use to be able to turn off the audio but now there is even imagery. Maybe you watch the games with sound off and eyes closed?
if you’re so much of a sensitive little that you can’t ignore 20 seconds of commentary in a 3 hour game, then go watch My Little Pony.

Product is not as good as once was. The pushing and shoving more physical play was more interesting than that now-IMO.

Second is the pollicization. Taking sides on anything and everything is hurting business.

I wish it were not so. It is just the way things are now which is sad.

Left been progressively getting worse about being in our face in entertainment over the last two or three decades.
I think the final straw has been blm, scamdemic, etc.

    Oscars ratings:
    2019 - 29.6 million
    2020 - 23.6 million
    2021 - 9.85 million

LeBron is close to being a billionaire. You still live with your parents (and hide in your room when they watch Maddow).

For what it's worth, slob, Lebron admitted he doesn't give a sh** about people after he lost the 2011 Finals because he's living the life and they aren't.

People have realized that they don't have to support primadonnas. It's a good thing, not a bad thing.

I don’t support LeBron in any way, besides watching him play basketball. Sorry you’re too sensitive for that.

I don't care what you do. I'm just telling you that LeBron stated his outlook on slobs like you.

Most people continued to watch basketball. But then when someone who was already self-outed as a total a**hole started pulling all his political nonsense, we see how the nosedive finally came.

It was a combination of a lot of things tbh. One this stupid lack of physical play and everyone just jacking up 3s. It's a really ty game now. There's no defense, no real difference in playing styles, and star players have no shame in teaming up to win rings anymore. Also teams are tanking to start the season now instead of waiting til the all star break. None of these help the product.

I actually think two things killed the NBA. The first is social media. The NBA got hardcore into posting highlight videos and it was a great investment, but it doesn't really bring in any new fans. And with players no speaking their minds on social media, which hey idgaf about since I don't know any of them, but a ton of people get their feelings hurt by their opinions. Now instead of Lebron's words going to like just the people who read the sports page in the LA Times they go to like 35 million people nationwide and different media outlets across our country. And people who don't care about sports are all of a sudden being thrust into hearing about political stances of a sports player. They have no problem stating their stance though if you ask them

The second is the giant pay raise the players get. I know that players are going to make a ton of money. But when you make THAT much money, you automatically distance yourself from the common folk. Nobody wants to hear any ing about your job when you make 40 million a year. Factory workers, graveyard shift workers, manual labor workers all have ty jobs that are hard. They don't want to hear from basketball players how "hard" they work when they make 1000xs more than them. They also don't want to hear any complaints about their job as well. There are absolute scrub players who don't even play a minute that make a million dollars. Role players now get 20 million to be good once every 5 games.

For the absolute better for NBA players, they are no longer a part of our society. But it's not so good for the NBA going forward. The league will stagnate, but hey what a ride it was

Q s opinions mean all, i'll tell you why the ratings are down:

    1. the product this year is garbage. teams are constantly missing key guys, big time players like lebron/AD missing huge chunks of the season, Brooklyn guys have only played 168 mins together, and every night teams are playing half a squad of no names against their opponent

    2. no fans in the arenas most of the year. a lot of people cant watch without the crowd as it takes away from the enjoyment/immersion of the game

    3. television ratings. only boomers look at TV ratings being indicative of anything. more people shift away from cable, there arent a lot of other good ways to consistently watch ball, and with a lot of people having financial setbacks in the last year, cable is probably one of the first things to get cut. not only that, but again, most people dont watch TV anymore. when you can stream games illegally or just follow them online, why pay for cable?

    4. threepoint spamfests constantly lead to blowouts and boring games on national television. people are tired of players load managing and not playing in marquee games so they're tuning out.

    5. the "woke" probably plays a role but its being vastly overstated. ratings are down across all sports. iirc stanley cup had pitiful ratings this year and they're the most non-woke league full of white dudes in sports, so whats the problem here?

    6. no interesting storylines this year (that would interest casuals)

gots like derp and qhrisbot love stroking each other to Oscar ratings or whatever stupid ass talking point chuck callesto or tucker carlson gives them, but they're certified board re s and everyone knows this. the reality is there are a mul ude of factors but the biggest ones are the product on the court is just not as entertaining as it was because of constant threepoint spamfest blowouts and the covid protcols forcing guys to sit out make for a bad product
