scenario may happen with the Westbrook trade blocking off LA as DeRozan new team and him ending up back here.

    Prepare for the worst
I'm expecting DePression and Mills both back on big money deals

See, I completely disagree. DeRozan is a high quality NBA player. He could really improve some teams. His problem is not if he has skills, it's that the teams in win-now mode don't have money to sign him and the teams that have cap space are terrible and are not looking to add veteran players, but rather draft assets. NYC is one of the few teams that would check the box for him on getting paid and he would make them better. I think they are the favorites to land him. I don't get why the hate. He's one of the best creators off the dribble in the NBA and he is a great mid range scorer that can get to the basket, get to the line, and get a good shot and the end of the shot clock. He's not a scrub. He's just the 2nd or 3rd best player on a championship team, not a first. You could plug a lot of players perceived as better into his spot on the Spurs, and we still wouldn't make the playoffs.
The style of basketball he plays is losing basketball. He doesn’t shoot 3s, play D or hustle. He’s ball dominant and without the ball he’s completely useless.

Sadly I could see this be the case if DeRozan accepts $20-25m annually from SA. And if this happens there will be no player who'll be more hated by his fan base than DeRozan on ST. Nuclear level. I see no angle of improvement in his game if he continues here.

Even more worrisome is we might get them paid via sign and trade to a compe or while taking back terrible assets.

Best thing about making a max offer sheet to Collins is they'd have to renounce DePression to do it. No way Atlanta doesn't match but at least signing Collins to the sheet gets them that.

The Spurs could easily sign both Collins and DeRozan.

Dallas may make a play on DDR, but they have to wait and see what Kawhi does first.

Jeez way to kill my dreams for this offseason. , you're right, they could sign him for $26 million or so and still make a max offer to Collins without dumping anyone.

I just can't imagine Derozan signing back to the spurs. He had to move to "power forward" just to get on the floor. Imagine what happens if we sign an actual stretch 4. Where would he play ? I know our front office has been embarrassing the last few years but even THEY can't this up right ?

I get a bad feeling he will be back. The Lakers and Heat have now backed off of ever getting him. It really comes down now to the Knicks getting him. Gotta hope the Knicks will sign him.

Well the Knicks have huge capspace and are desperate to sign someone. They don't really have many options other than DePression once Leonard re-signs in LA. So I hold out hope.

Didn't Chris Paul opt out? Haven't heard anything about who might be interested other than Phoenix still?

I saw an article that said 3 years/$90 million was agreed.

Man, Paul is a good player, but I can't help but think that by that third year, it will be a disaster. They probably will have less money on that third year so they can trade him.

I hope not. This is the move I’m most eager/nervous about.

Come on Washington with that “mutual interest”!!

This is getting close with the large cap teams giving out contracts. Definitely worried but hoping there's some team who has room.

Guess we'll have to edit this thread le if our franchise player comes back to SA

Might just need to sign with the Knicks because everyone (Spurs too) are running out of space quick.
