Forward Robert Horry told ESPN that he expects to become a free agent when Tuesday's June 1 deadline arrives.
Horry said the Lakers, the team he's played for the past 6-1/2 seasons, will opt not to pick up his contract on Monday. The earliest Horry can sign with another team is July 16.
In 11 NBA seasons, the 6-10 Horry has averaged 9.1 points and 6.2 rebounds. But he's hit some big shots during the playoffs, and has played on five NBA le winners.
Come on down.
Question for Marcus Bryant:

Having Horry on the Spurs would so very very odd.
But, I am willing to bet he can retain his shooting touch after a terrible 2003 playoffs, and at the Vet Minimum he would be a solid 10th Man, to get 5-10 mins a game, sometimes more depending on matchups and situations.
**** him.
MI21,
Horry was out of gas in the playoffs after havnig to bust his butt to even get LA to the playoffs.
For a minimum contract, I'd take him on our bench. I bet someone will probably pay him more than that though...
AHF
Horry, for the VetMin, or something close to it, is a big upgrade over Ferry.
If I'm a Laker fan, I don't wan't Horry hanging out beyond the arc (in black and silver of course) late in the 4th quarter.
I see Horry's personality as beneficial towards helping Jermaine O'Neal fit in with the Spurs too.
Good Point AHF.
But I can see Horry taking a lesser offer from say Houston or San Antonio so he can be closer to his sick daughter(pretty sure its daughter). It wouldn't surprise me.
But, you never know there days with NBA players, alot of them are very Greedy, but Horry doesnt strike me as the type to be like that.
Would definitely be a good pickup for somewhere close to the minimum. I think Horry can still hit some big shots, he was just completely out of gas last year having to cover for Shaq's lazy ass and Samaki's incredible inep ude.
Horry would fit the Ferry role very nicely. His minutes would be down which will help him come playoff time.
And despite being 0-30 or whatever against the Spurs from beyond the arc, I'd still trust him shooting a game winning shot.
Sign him up.
I can't see how anyone wouldn't accept Horry in SA at the right price. If you limit his minutes throughout the season, he's a tremendous asset to come in and knock down a shot or two come playoff time.
0-15 nuff said.
"limit his limits"????
Someone is definitely getting a little punchy...
Hi there, Kori...
Details are important…. Mitch has said that the Lakers would love to have Robert back…However…The Lakers are not expected to exercise a $5.3-million option on Horry's contract for next season.
In all likelihood Horry will be a free agent by Tuesday and able to negotiate with all teams, including the Lakers. He probably will receive a contract at something closer to $1.4 million, the veteran's minimum.
Hi Trav!
One hour sleep does wonders for your typing.
...I can imagine...no telling what would come out of my fingers with only one hour of sleep...
no telling what your fingers would smell like with only one hour of sleep Travis.
At least they wouldn't smell like some guy's @$$ like yours would, Jim...
Horry in Silver and Black would be akin to seeing Karl Malone as a Spur- but I agree that he would be a nice 9th or 10th man.
1 year vet min sounds great.
Karl Malone would be much better for SA than Horry.
Travis, you are just gross.:moon
Jim, that's like Baghdad Bob calling me a liar...
Fingers smelling like your woman after a night of passion, is not gross, fingers smelling like a dude's ass is gross...if you do not see the difference, perhaps we need to worry about you and your sexual proclivities.
Jim, we've all known about your preference for guys, and one more time, the answer is no...
Travis, one more time, I am not hot for you...stop this fantasizing immediately...for God's sake.
This is the right move by the Lakers, as they must free up cap room and money to go after the more desired free agents (PJ Brown, Gary Payton, etc). As for Horry, I'm expecting him to resign with the Lakers, but for a lesser salary. He has even made statements such like his not wanting to learn another team system, and that he is comfortable with LA. Expect him to still wear Purple and Gold this upcoming fall.
