"The Celtics front office was looking for a way to get out from under that contract, and ultimately were not able to do that despite having conversations with multiple teams over the last several months. I was told they discussed a deal involving Kemba Walker and LaMarcus Aldridge when Aldridge was still in San Antonio. Primarily because Aldridge was on the last year of his contract, whereas Kemba Walker has two years currently and about $76 million remaining on this contract.."

kinda weird that the spurs would not only trade a big for a guard... but that they would even trade for another guard at all...

is the FO not sold on murray and / or white?

I'm glad they're not. Neither guy should stop you from looking at a star. The issue is that Kemba is broke, not that they wanted an upgrade.

I read that as the Celtics offered and the Spurs said no.

That's a lot of green for Walker. Not a good contract.

Of course I also thought CP3's deal was terrible, and he's working out ok for the Suns.

Knee is injured. May never be the same. Glad we avoided. Although buying out LMA was pathetic.

Spurs doesn’t have a guy like Kemba who can potentially put up 50 pts and not be shy about it. That would take converting 7 or more 3pts plus, and nope Demar couldn’t do it with mid-range. And instead of just letting Aldridge walk.

I would have only done it if there were good picks coming with him.
He's 31, injury prone and a big contract.

We were shipping out a guy with a bad heart and who defends the 3 from the paint. Geez how ST people value our players

If Ainge wanted to get rid of him at the deadline, he’s probably washed. Danny does no one favors.

Murray was better than Walker this season if you compare their stats

If these are the types of offers the spurs were getting for Aldridge then no wonder they bought him out

Undersized chucker point guard with bad knees and over 70 million left on his deal...yuck

Walker for Aldridge was probably the best they were offered this past year.
