I mean, I'm a city boy as they come, love living in metropolis, lived in NY, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Portland, now Los Angeles, and one thing that's pretty clear is that those videos are not representative of living in a city at all...

I'm sure LA is better than when I lived there late 80's to early 90's.
It's just another large city, with the usual convenience/annoyance of any large city: things open late, big variety of shops and restaurants, lots of things within walking distance, generally good transportation, traffic sucks unless you know your way around, noisy, bums, expensive...I'm sure LA is better than when I lived there late 80's to early 90's.
It all comes down to whether you can afford to live in this place and if you favor the convenience over the annoyance or not...
