Assuming that trade actually works, I’d do it.
I just don’t see how DDR fits with Caruso, Ball, Levine though.
No way. Spurs can simply sign Collins outright; them getting Murray is way more than enough imo

DDR fit with anyone is questionable; but some one will gamble on his strengths. Chi needs talent and turning Thad into DDR for similar annual money prob seems appealing given their realistic options at who is available in FA/Trades
More and more, the plan is not to have an obvious plan, it seems.
Guessing, but it feels like they are making decisions based on:
Finding character players.
Maintaining the family.
Alcoholism.
Pride.
Catholic fatalism.
They always said getting Duncan (and Manu and Parker) was luck, so I think they don’t expect any plan will definitively get them a star. So, let’s be good people and find good people and see what happens.
That sounds ridiculous but we are in a ridiculous situation.
I think they equate trades to a divorce and good character people don’t do that.
Joking?
Walker or Samanic + Derozan.
But that doesn’t even need to happen. Just make the max offer
Wonder when we'll hear anything. Spurs sitting with about 30 mil in space still and there's there's zero noise on our FAs and Collins/Hawks
If we can't get JC and if we can't or decide against getting Lauri... I wouldn't be opposed to acquiring Ingles from Utah and using the remaining space to absorb bad contracts for assets.
My guess is Friday
The trade works if Derozan salary is near Thads (14-16M)
I live far away and i still don't see how John Collins is gonna want to come to SA, i give it 0% chance and i don't understand how some of you guys even think this a realistic scenario. We are very far from contention, light years away and that's why i understand the Zack Collins signing.
I’m preparing for a DDR return. But if he’s the centerpiece you have to surround him with 3/D players at every other position. They would have needed Dieng, and traded Yak and Dejounte.
I wonder if we are already done. I mean, have we met the salary floor yet?
Spurs are giving up too much. I'd rather move White to Indiana for Myles Turner or something like that
The John Collins thing is the domino that needs to fall for more robust activity league wide today.
Spurs at the center of many of the big things that flow from it:
1. Lauri situation;
2. DeRozen’s future now money died up; and
3. fringe signing like Gay and Mills held up.
4. Oubre’s dream of a payday
Imo, it's obvious that he doesn't want to just sit in the corner while Trae dribbles for 20 seconds every single possession.
He'd be the first option for the Spurs, 1A-1B worst case scenario and didn't someone mention he has family in SA?
That's a trade that would make both teams better.
Rudy to the Jazz
I think this FO thinks they are much more clever then they really are. They are either lazy , complacent, or just plain incompetent at being imaginative. Here I thought the mid 89's to 90's FO was bad...my god lol
There goes 1 of the three vets
Bye Rudy! Thank god. Tired of his low bbiq ass
Rudy is the only one I kinda hoped would return since the Spurs need a vet or two. Wish him well but if he wants a ring he chose to wrong team

Free agent Rudy Gay has agreed to a deal with the Utah Jazz, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
I can't believe we may still be stuck with Defozen...
I agree. I’d rather keep DJ. But if they are high on Collins and the only way ATL doesn’t match means giving up DJ? Getting a lightly protected first from a meh team isn’t bad.
And it also gives SA 15m in cap space more next year (basically it’s like not signing doug + Zach)
Seeing as to how BAD the front office is at using cap space… this would be a bad thing and do not want. Lol
He don't get to decide. He will go to highest bidder. He is rfa.
By being RFA what he wants is most money. Other reasons don't matter as much. While we don't want to bring in players against their will. But RFA means whoever offers most wins
I tend to agree. I doubt Collins has any interest in playing for the Spurs.
The only way Collins comes to the Spurs is to get money that Atl won't offer, not because he likes playing for the Spurs -- but it could happen in theory.
Spurs give Collins a max offer because Atl won't, then, unexpectedly, Atl doesn't match.
It's a longshot. But the bottom line is, even if it happened, it wouldn't be based upon any real desire by Collins to play for the Spurs. Ironically, that's what gives it an outside chance.
