I've voiced that I wanted McDermott in multiple scenarios. He is just a Pop player. Good cutter, catch and shoot. Plus he isn't ing 6ft3. He can start or come off the bench. Also he is a vet that the team needs because we are losing our vets.
I think we have a couple things they are working out right now (that I hope helps make better sense of these signings). It feels like we held enough cap space to sign the better Collins. I think we are trying to work it as a S&T for him including DJ or White and if they can do that then S&T DDR using the space that creates... if they can't agree with Atl then maybe they just sign Collins and wait on Atlanta to match and lose out on a DDR S&T...
That's the best I can come up with...

What exactly would ya'll have liked for the FO to do? Some of these deals these guys are getting are bananas. Y'all want to pay 90M to Duncan Robinson or 75M to Fournier? I do agree signing MAGA Collins was horrible tbh.

Can't you see Demar isn't going to New York after they signed Fournier, Burks, and Noel. Lakers got Westbrook. And after Zach Collins was signed, John Collins is a pipe dream. DeRozen/Markkanen will be involved in a sign and trade, possibly with third team depending on how much DeRozen will sign for.
I didn't like the McDermott signing. Overpaid, probably overplayed. I listen to multiple Pacers podcasts, and none of them were crying over the possibility of losing McDermott this summer. BUT at least he can play.
Collins has never done anything other than be a lottery bust who gets hurt all the time. He can't play AND he can't play.
We gonna cut Eubanks, then?
DDR running out of options.
I do.
I know I'm pissing into the wind.

The Warriors also have interest in Patty Mills, I'm told. Could shape up to be a chase with the taxpayer mid-level. twitter.com/TheSteinLine/s…

He can walk either...
Collins, if healthy, could be a good player. But his record is not good. I guess McDermott makes sense if you are trying to win games since the Spurs have slashers and need a good shooter. I just don't think a 30 year old shooter is the way to go if you aren't bottoming out.
Signing two players for 21 mil who absolutely suck is fine. Rebuild in three years, and go from there. Just dont resign mills or derozan time to tank ,and tank BIG

Save your money and tank. Take on bad deals for picks. Anything but this.
timvp - remember my question a few days ago and you said ask you in a week? How’s your faith in the FO now?
Time to rage tweet homie!
they are tanking, and rebuilding in three years. They had to spend their money some where. Welcome to sa mcdermoot and big zach. Just dont resign derozan and continue the treadmill
The young guys have to have some type of vets around to help them grow. McDermott will likely be a good security blanket for them with his shot making. I think it's worth the money if it helps them develop good habits as they grow.
Zach collins is a roll of a dice. Before Injury he was the protypical new age big. Could shoot the 3, defend the perimeter and defend down low. If he's hurt, sure the spurs get out of the contract. Long term investment in my eyes, not short term.
Now sign John collins and Oubre and the off season rumors will have been completed.
Maybe get something for derozan.
It's only been 2 and half hours into free agency. Let the man shed a few tears before straighten his tie.
