Man, the FO took a big, fat, steamy hot all over the haters today.

There's way too many posts to quote, dead wrong, about the Spurs bringing the vets back at any cost, another $50Millz contract, re-signing DePression, all that jazz.... Feels so ing good to get vindication like this, and see the team offload their over-the-hill vets and turn a new page.

I personally knew we weren't ever re-signing DeRozan & Co after the play-in game, but I'd be lying if I said I never doubted, either.... Being a Spurs fan can be a test of faith sometimes, it's nice to see it get rewarded like this

Now, bois, roll the tank over...... Where's the 2022 Draft thread, TBH?!
Talk about your all time backfires lol

Problem is that Mills was actually desired by other contenders. I'm guessing that no one besides PATFO was dumb enough to offer Forbes a contract worth more than a half a bag of cheetos.

I'd gladly take Mills back if it meant no Forms tbh.

Clearly you keep Mills instead of Forbes, all else equal - but Mills' price was much higher and the other teams that wanted him were legit le contenders. So I understand why he wouldn't want to return to the Spurs

True, if it's multiple guaranteed years above the vet min then this is really a travesty

End of an era. This will now be the first time we've been without a Championship player since 1998. Thanks for the memories, Patty!

Patty wasn't taking a discount to return to the Spurs. People talk up Patty's class and character but he ended up taking a paycut to ringchase while milking the Spurs dry on that bloated 50 mil contract. Of course, everybody would love Patty at 6 mil.

Patty Mills is a professional (professional means they do it for a living) basketball player. What other business can you think of that's willing to sacrifice profit for awards?

I am glad Patty left to many guards on this team and we Rebuilding so his time would be limited - Best for both he left to a great team and he might actually help them get a ring see nothing wrong with that.

with him and Gay we just lost 2 of the worst defenders on the team. Thanx for 14.
As you know, the worst two defenders on the team last year were Walker and DeRozan.
    Now its Forbes and Walker.

Walker has too much size and mobility to be as poor a defender as he is. Forbes is what he is. Just an end of the bench guy and I hope he is treated like that next year.

If Walker wants a long NBA career, he better figure it out NOW.

    Pretty much.

I bet he shows up in the best shape of his life in Brooklyn

Never forget that he signed 4/50 then showed up fat and bloated and directly made clear to the media that he didn't have to perform well at all on the 4/50 because it was back pay owed to him on prior deals

But yes, Mills over Forbes. Not just because Mills at least flops around on defense and is good for drawing comical charges, but you never have to worry about Pop actually starting Mills for long if everyone's healthy. With Forbes, it's almost a guarantee that he'll get chances to start.
