With the addition of Young, the Spurs reaaaaaaally needed a three-point shooting center. Here he is ... with upside.

    I approve

Might be my favorite summer acquisition. If for no other reason than his first name is Jock.

Jock belongs in the NBA. He has always played really well for the Boomers in international play. His NBL stuff is good, not great so I'm always pleasantly surprised watching him play for the Boomers. He is nothing like Baynes who was surprisingly athletic for a guy with his body, but he does have a much better feel for the game. I like the signing, Jock can definitely be a 15mpg backup in the NBA.

    Pros
Runs the floor, every single time.
Good offensive rebounder with nice touch in the key on finishes.
Plays with a lot of energy and hustle. Bit of an angry guy.
Decent but inconsistent 3pt shooter, definitely not gunshy.
Basic but decisive moves in the post.
Shows flashes passing and operating from elbows.

    Cons
    Bit limited athletically.
Decision making is an issue, can be turnover prone.
Not the strongest defending the post.
    Bit of an angry guy.
Tends to foul a lot on switches.
I'm not sure if he can stretch out to NBA range and hit 33-35%.
Will never be a big gravity guy.

So he can shoot a bit. Can he guard the perimeter?

Eubanks' deal for this year just became guaranteed? Next year is still non-guaranteed? Between him, this guy, KBD and our 2nd round pick not clear who will be a two-way, etc. I know Jeffries was waived before his deal became guaranteed.

Wonder how much the Spurs had to pay him. He was gaining a lot of momentum playing for Australia.

This contract could be anywhere from minimum to a two-year, $8-10M. Difficult to tell.

Jock is also a really confident guy, he won't be phased making the jump to the NBA and will not be intimidated by the step up. I'm excited, I think Spurs fans will like him - though Pop will bench him for a month at some point forgetting into a scuffle, that I guarantee.

I'm hoping the other Aussie big man Nick Kay gets picked up somewhere too - he is an ultimate connector type, still quite young and has shown huge improvement in the last 3 years. Different to Jock, but belongs in the NBA just the same.

A mean streak is a nice addition. Something the Spurs have lacked and desperately need.

We let one Aussie from St Mary’s go and bring in another Aussie from St Mary’s.
There must always be an Aussie in San Anton, it is known.
