Jock belongs in the NBA. He has always played really well for the Boomers in international play. His NBL stuff is good, not great so I'm always pleasantly surprised watching him play for the Boomers. He is nothing like Baynes who was surprisingly athletic for a guy with his body, but he does have a much better feel for the game. I like the signing, Jock can definitely be a 15mpg backup in the NBA.

    Pros
Runs the floor, every single time.
Good offensive rebounder with nice touch in the key on finishes.
Plays with a lot of energy and hustle. Bit of an angry guy.
Decent but inconsistent 3pt shooter, definitely not gunshy.
Basic but decisive moves in the post.
Shows flashes passing and operating from elbows.

    Cons
    Bit limited athletically.
Decision making is an issue, can be turnover prone.
Not the strongest defending the post.
    Bit of an angry guy.
Tends to foul a lot on switches.
I'm not sure if he can stretch out to NBA range and hit 33-35%.
Will never be a big gravity guy.
Thanks for the scouting report, MI21. I remember when you used to say the Spurs should sign Ingles -- so I'm glad you think Jock can make it

Regarding him being angry, that's the first thing I thought of

Of the "character" guys, he's for sure the angriest. His rep is he's a good dude off the court but that he's also a bit arrogant and isn't above trash talking. He supposedly thinks he not only should be in the NBA but that he should have already been in the NBA for years now.

Ingles was such a no brainer and would have been perfect for the beautiful game

Jock is apparently a great guy off the court - I have friends that deal with him regularly and they have nothing but nice things to say. But his style on the court is kind of like the "annoying hustle guy who tries hard but has no skill" except he has skill. It's a good signing, potentially very good - I would be surprised if he fails. I would much rather pay him that any one of the 20 random backups that cycle through teams and provide nothing except a bit of strength and the odd bit of vertical spacing.

So this is why Eubanks was not signed. I’m liking our roster and it’s the right amount of support our current young core needed to make a push themselves. Looks like he can be productive at the NBA level.

Well I guess that means McDermott will play his natural position, the 3. And Samanic won't play at all

Ah, man, that would have been amazing.

Yeah, I like that he has an edge. He's not super skilled so having that Australian toughness in him is actually an asset, tbh.

Eubanks has his work cut out for him keeping that backup spot. Poeltl should be safe as the starter but I'd give Jock a 1-2% chance of being the starter in a year or two.

The Zollins signing starting to make more sense. Throw together Zollins, Jock, Eubanks, Poeltl at the wall and one of them should emerge as an above average, quality starter. Zollins being sidelined also gives you a chance to look at Jock and Eubanks before eventually having to move on from one of them.
