A good bit of business. The "two FRPs" thing is such a variable. This deal is a calculated risk. Does Toronto return to where they were last year, when we received their 20th pick? Maybe. In which case they also pulled a fairly decent second rounder this year - probably gets a bit worse than 39th - plus an additional second.

If Toronto fails to turn it around next year, they could fumble around in late lotto/play-in territory.

All this for a player the Spurs weren't going to resign. And they got him to his preferred destination.

I was definitely skeptical, expecting the FRP to be lottery protected. but this is actually a good trade.

Yeah nice deal, specially when you see how overall this day went all across the NBA.

Seems like the best deal of the day. Gained the most in comparison to the lost, outside of a top 3 player being moved.

i never thought they'd get 2 firsts for yak, so im more or less pleased with the compensation, though i'd have preferred a flier on a young guy rather than taking on birch

its the richardson trade that was very weak

Plumlee, a comparable player, was traded for a far out SRP.

It was a good trade, let’s hope Toronto are a bit again next season.

Seriously. I like Jak but this is an accurate comp. I’m over the moon there is no risk we pay Jak 15-20mm

Plumlee is five years older without a history of being a high quality rim protector.

What if the Raptors sign-and-trade Poeltl back to the Spurs for Birch and the three picks?

No way. They’d have to toss in another couple SRPs or we hang up.

Have yet to read some praise on Mr Wrong's dealing, tbh. Spurs made great moves - more than a few are eating crow tonight.

Spurs got a great trade. I’ve watched every game this season and Jakob has looked bad recently. It’s crazy that KD, Kyrie, dumping Westbrook, and Jakob pulled the only first rounders. What a bizarre deadline!

Paying homage to the last year his archetype was valuable in the NBA?

Salary filler is always in vogue.
