If Trump had done this... lmao. He ing led an insurrection and tried to overthrow an election. We were a phone call to Dan Quayle away from losing democracy. And not a thing happened to the fat .

Responsibility for famine, incipient mass death and families selling their children in Afghanistan is largely on Joe Biden and the US State Dept.

Public spending is something like 43% of GDP in Afghanistan. Cutting off their money means ordinary people will starve and die.

So we should fund a country that's never going to be self-sufficient in perpetuity? 20 years was long enough, it's time for the Afghan people to take ownership of their own welfare.

Trump made a plan to get us out of that hole, and Biden executed said plan.

Neither Trump's plan nor Biden's execution were perfect, but they got the job done.

    Trump

    Biden

We're not talking about US support, we're talking about Afghanistan's own cash reserves and access to international aid and finance. Starving a country because you don't like their government is genocide, more or less.

I agree in that sense but I don't really blame Biden & his state department for not blocking the Taliban from receiving international aid/finance; the minute they loosened those restrictions, le happy merchant Jake Tapper would be pearl clutching on CNN about how evil Biden is for doing it and the rest of the pro-war media would use it as a reason to attack Biden's approval rating.

Oh well, you can't have that. Better that millions of ordinary Afghans should starve than that Biden's popularity should take a hit.

Yes actually. I care more about Democrats not getting crushed in midterms & democracy surviving in the US than I do the Afghan people.

Americans on their own don't care, Americans when they're being bombarded by negative coverage from Shekelstein News Network assume there's a reason they should be mad at Biden over Afghanistan.

Apples and oranges. Zero US lives would be lost by letting Afghanistan have their own money back and receive international aid.

Not so sure about that. It wouldn't be out of the realm that some of that money ends up funding terror against the US. While it's true that the vast majority of Afghans have no intention of hurting the US, the problem is indeed the ruling minorities.

I don't really see how starving the whole country helps us in that regard, post 20 years of brutal fighting. Lots of orphans and embittered survivors of US policy there. Reportedly, 97% of Afghanis are or will soon be below the poverty line.
