Ah that sucks. UTSA had a bunch of players out for COVID and other reasons but enough to play.
Have no idea what Wake could do this late. Maybe see if they could get East Tennessee back together for some one-time FCS/FBS COVID bowl weirdness?
Ags bow out of the Gator Bowl for not having enough players due to Covid. Wake Forest wants to play but can only do so if another team is left without a bowl opponent.

yeah, COVID hit the runners hard and at the worst time. couple that with the 1st half suspension of wisdom and the loss of sincere to the draft and the runners were at a huge disadvantage to start. WF would have to see if another team is left at the altar right before their bowl game and then see if they could work out a game on an agreed upon site. but basically, this probably ends WF's season as well.
That sucks but it's also fascinating. Would they have to be that level conference eligible or just meet the minimum win criteria? And which bowl would get the two teams?
They created the Frisco Classic so all teams with an even or winning record could have a bowl game this year, otherwise two would've been left out. I can't think of any FBS program that could fill in at this point, which is why I floated the idea of an FCS semifinalist; they had a contingency to play in January and might be able to ramp back up to play -- as ridiculous as it sounds.
There's a possibility another team withdraws in a day or two. Then some other bowl would lose out.
nevermind, looks like they're lining up
Wait, so a team that already lost a bowl game has a chance at playing again in a better one?
Sure why not
Crazy times
Looks like it'll be 5-7 Rutgers because they're good at studying
COVID was the excuse to save face, they were already at a massive shortage of players before factoring in Covid.
They were probably going to have been drilled due to players either transferring out or opting out of the bowl game (which is really a bigger problem all in all in the game).
But now Aggies can kinda save face from being flat out embarassed in that game by using Covid as a reason to not even show up.
That's actually a pretty cool contingency.

I don't care, I'm pulling for Leach to hang half a hundred on Tech.
nice win for UH over auburn today, even in these opt-out, transfer portal, covid protocol days.
and add UCLA to the list of teams that suddenly cancelled games because they were suddenly "afraid" of playing a football game.
Only 2 Undefeated seasons for Bama since 2009
Saban feasting on playoff era mulligans
^ if the team that beat Bama was in the playoffs
They would not have shown up
12th man is missing
Oh yay two sec teams in the le game again
when they're not choking like [email protected] to Alabama, Georgia has easily been the most dominant team all season tbh imho
Kirby Smart looks like a dingus. Wouldn't be surprised if him and Sandusky open up their own 'petting zoo' for children at some point
