I’m in the market for a new computer but the baseline requirement is that it won’t have any affiliation with McAfee. I don’t want any McAfee pop ups, attempts to auto install, etc. it’s garbage software and I hope John McAfee’s death was as miserable as possible and involved being raped with a broomstick by prison guards.

which brands should I investigate that won’t sell me pre loaded garbage?

Let me know what you get, Will. I too am in the market (desk top), but want to be extra careful.

I’m with Frostking on this one. Used to be s windows guy but slowly migrated over Apple and got a Mac after Windows 10 came about. I really don’t like that OS. I’ve never had a problem with my Mac since day 1.

Your best shot is to buy directly from the makers. I know Dell sells them streamlined according to what you want. At least they did.

You could just do a fresh install of Windows to get rid of all that crap using the key that should be printed on a sticker somewhere on your PC / laptop. You can download Windows direct from Microsoft for free, put it on a microSD or flash drive, boot from USB, and then use that key on the sticker to do a fresh install of Windows on your computer. First thing I would do if I bought a pre-built PC or a laptop.

Yeah you want to be careful. Dell got caught by a big PC gaming channel (Linus Tech Tips) forcing service plans and extended warranties on a buyer who kept saying no every time the salesperson on the phone kept pushing them.

Handled right those extended warranties are like gold.

Meh, they push those things hard because they're pure profit to the company. Unless you want a high end gaming PC or workstation anything in there that's going to fail in 3 years will probably fail early on in the first few months when you're covered by the regular warranty.

True, I was thinking more comprehensively on items you purchase.

    Oh. Got that right.

their customer service and policy is iffy as well. Good luck if you lose your password or get locked out of your own phone. They won’t do much outside of do you remember your password?

I am switching to an iPhone, never owned an apple product but the Android/Windows thing has me fed up with . Can't wait for Apple to slow my phone's performance for my own good.

McAfee software is like herpes, there’s no way to get rid of it , I’d rather just not have it on my computer at all.

And no I can’t buy an apple. My work revolves around Microsoft office suite (namely word, excel and PowerPoint), and the office products for Mac software blows.

They pay a lot of money to companies like Dell to get their bull on your computer. And lots of other like that too, which is why I recommend doing a fresh install of Windows after wiping the drive. So much ing bloatware on a system out of the box when you get it from someone like Dell, Asus, HP, etc.
