From my experience, yes.
Do austintes support Spurs more than Rockets and mavs?
Without question it's a Spurs town and has been since I can remember. I grewded up in Austin in the 80s and 90s and Spurs were the default team based on home games being show on cable channel HSE. In the Duncan era games aired on an attenna channel, WB I think. I only saw Spurs gear being repped in junior high and a trickle of Rockets, and nothing for Mavs (who were God awful in the 90s - they started out 4-57 in '92-'93).
In his first few years David Robinson was actually a huge national acclaimed player with lots of commercials so he drew a lot of the younger fan base in Austin. You'll notice DRob on the NBA on NBC signature intro from that era. When Rodman and Duncan came there were national commercials both had with Robinson. All that fanfare for the Spurs died out in the 2000s for whatever reason.
I've lived here for the last 23 years, it's definitely a Spurs majority fandom.
Because of the Austin Spurs?
Casual fans in Texas support the Texas team that is winning which counts out the Rockets and Spurs.
Hard yes. Lived in Austin for years and saw way more Spurs fans and Spurs gear than Rockets and Mavs.
I know Spurs held training camp in Austin once.
Wow its a good thing that we’re going to migrate in a City that supports the team that I already been supporting.. hopefully I can Go to San Antonio to from Austin to watch some OF Spurs games..the BAD thing is Spurs aren’t contender anymore.
what about putting a new NBA team in austin? Is that a good idea? Will there be enough support from the people OF Austin to run a NBA team?

Born and raised Austinite, Spurs fan since early 2000s. Definitely a mix but skews towards Spurs
some white boys like to go for dallas, but it's mostly Spurs territory
which austin? the cool, hippy vibe austin that ruled until the early 90's? or the gentrified, corporate run, transplants-infested austin?
As far as NBA it’s mostly the Spurs. Of course it is more and more folks moving out here from other areas in the country/world so it might change.
ITS A GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS TOWN FWIW
Back when the spurs were good you could say the team had support, but Austin isn't going to support the rebuilding support
A city 1.25 hours away from San Antonio and you really have to ask that?
