Mastercard blocks financial ins utions over sanctions on Russia

Mastercard announced Monday it was blocking "multiple financial ins utions from the Mastercard payment network" as a result of sanctions imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

The U.S.-based financial services company said in a statement it will continue to work with regulators to stay in compliance and is actively monitoring and preparing to respond to cyberattacks.

The U.S. and EU have sanctioned top Kremin officials and Russian elites as well as taken steps to remove Russian banks from the SWIFT network, which allows for payments between financial ins utions.

The financial corporation also said it would donate $2 million in humanitarian relief.

    oh snap....

“Given the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis, we are pausing the release of theatrical films in Russia, including the upcoming Turning Red from Pixar. We will make future business decisions based on the evolving situation. In the meantime, given the scale of the emerging refugee crisis, we are working with our NGO partners to provide urgent aid and other humanitarian assistance to refugees.”

Some of the corporate virtue signalling makes no sense to me. How does withholding the release of western entertainment from Russian people make the situation better or hurt Putin's regime?

FedEx and UPS have suspended deliveries to Russia too.

It will certainly make for many unhappy russians.

Ukrainian pilots arrive in Poland to pick up donated fighter jets

In a move likely aimed at increasing pressure on Europe to act, the Ukrainian parliament on Monday tweeted that Europe was sending 70 fighter planes to Ukraine, including 28 MiG-29s from Poland, 12 from Slovakia and 16 from Bulgaria, along with 14 Su-25s from Bulgaria.

The fighter plane drama came on top of a flurry of announcements over the weekend that saw European leaders promise a flood of new weaponry for the Ukrainian military to assist in fighting off invading Russian troops, an overt and very public acknowledgment of Europe’s newfound will to inflict pain on the Kremlin for its military adventurism.

With the air corridors to Kyiv closed by Russian anti-aircraft weapons and fighter jets, U.S. and European powers have started pushing weapons into the country by road.

Poland, Estonia and Latvia were some of the first to act, sending ammunition, Javelin anti-armor weapons, fuel and medical supplies to the Ukraine border for hand-off to Ukrainian forces.

On Monday, Finland announced it would join the club, pledging 2,500 assault rifles, ammunition, 1,500 anti-tank weapons and 70,000 ration packages to Ukraine. Sweden is also readying a large arms and aid package, announcing the upcoming delivery of 135,000 field rations, 5,000 helmets, body armor and 5,000 anti-tank weapons.

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly is heading to Poland Tuesday to coordinate the shipment of 100 Carl Gustaf anti-armor rocket launchers, along with 2,000 munitions and other aid.

Putin's helmeted 'Cosmonaut' thugs stamp out dissent in Russia: Kremlin's feared Omon paramilitary police round up hundreds across 51 cities in another day of anti-war protests

    - Nearly 6,000 protesters have been detained across Russia since Thursday
    - Helmeted Omon paramilitary thugs in camouflage riot gear are helping police
    - The Kremlin's propaganda machine is downplaying protests and the invasion

Russia's feared Omon paramilitary thugs have been taking to the streets to stamp out any opposition to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

Nearly 6,000 people have now been detained in antiwar protests across the country, with the helmeted cosmonauts in camouflaged riot gear regularly dragging away demonstrators.

Protests against the invasion started Thursday in Russia and have continued daily ever since, despite the Omon and police moving swiftly to crack down on the rallies.

The Kremlin has sought to downplay the protests, insisting that a much broader share of Russians support the assault on Ukraine.

But younger tech-savvy Russians with access to independent media have been voicing their opposition to the Kremlin's invasion, risking jail and even treason charges.

Kinda like "barracuda" in "Jaws" Adam. I say "barracuda" you're "huh, what?" I say "shark" and "we have a panic on the 4th of July." Same here. I say here's a half dozen movies opening up in Russia. You''re like "huh, what?" I say there'a half dozen movies not opening up in Russia. You're like "I want to see them movies or I'm gonna take a fit."

    Get it, blankethead?

They are going to get jets. The former warsaw pact countries with them, are going to send them.

That and multiple countries have pledged versions of anti-tank hand held missiles. Sux to be a russian tank crewman.

Experienced SAS veterans set to join Ukrainian forces fighting Russia

The ex-paratroopers are understood to be travelling to Ukraine in order to offer support to the native defenders that are trying to repel a Russian invasion.

An experienced force of SAS veterans is understood to be travelling to Ukraine to fight against Russian forces that have invaded the country.

The former UK special forces soldiers have signed up to help bolster missions in Ukraine and are understood to be heading there to support defensive forces deep inside the nation.

Among the ex-paratroopers are highly trained snipers as well as those well accustomed to anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons.

The group will join other UK military specialists with the group made up of veterans aged between 40 and 60.

It is understood that the group made the call to help their Ukrainian comrades after holding meetings to discuss whether to throw their expertise behind the dangerous mission, the Mirror reports.

We don’t need to give them up. Just spend less time pandering to them. Bill Clinton and Hillary literally called black people super predators in the 1990s and still won over 90% of the black vote…Dems can win the black vote without constantly talking about race, and that comment is targeted as progressives just as much as it is moderate Dems. Re s like Cori Bush literally say climate change “is a racial issue” and it’s the dumbest messaging I’ve ever seen.

To answer your question tho - it’s Hispanics and Asians that were losing due to the incessant pandering. Not white leftists.
The crime rate was astronomical in the early nineties and that crime bill was supported by like 99.9% of the population. this is revisionist history to pretend like it was some racist bill that only racists supported at the time. Black politicians say that if they would speak out against the bill at community meetings saying it goes too far all the black people would yell at them and say we need to do something cuz the streets are unsafe and crime is through the roof.

The defund the police stuff is really what turn people off and that came from black activists but that also really came from progressives and leftists. NYT had a study about how leftists and progressives are far to the left on racial matters of black people themselves so not really sure was ting on black people all the time accomplishes. I mean one of the reason Bernie lost is because black people are more moderate and more toward the median voter. But yeah, I can see singling out the really radical leftist black people but it seems like you're ting on black people in general

That crazy pootin, more abandoned russian equipment.

Ill-motivated, poorly trained conscripts, lied to about being liberators, and not knowing what to do if their orders/battle plan fails, have been abandoning a lot of kit.

That is one thing I have noticed about a lot of these vehicles, is a lack of blood stains in/near them. There is a lot of running the away.

The big take away is that the Russian army... sucks.
