Russia’s premier propagandists — tightly controlled, slavishly loyal, and richly rewarded media talking heads — roundly rejoiced Donald Trump won the US election. Things were going their way.
Their glee was only amplified by the arrival in December of the US TV celebrity Tucker Carlson to interview Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. On December 6, appearing on the state TV program Time Will Tell, State Duma member Andrey Isaev described the sit-down with Tucker as a useful opportunity for Lavrov to feed propaganda directly into American homes.
“Sergey Viktorovich [Lavrov] made a very important move. Here, he acted in the capacity of a man who is propagandizing to American audiences, explaining things to them,” Isaev said,
Their joy was short-lived. The sudden downfall of the murderous Assad regime in Syria, Russia’s primary Middle Eastern ally, shocked the Kremlin’s mouthpieces. Decorated propagandist Vladimir Solovyov was forced to admit on-air that Russia was unable to come to Assad’s defense because it is currently “busy” in Ukraine.

Romanian police on Sunday took mercenaries linked to far-right presidential candidate Calin Georgescu into questioning. Individuals were stopped as they were heading to the capital to stage protests and intimidate journalists and politicians after the presidential runoff were canceled, media reported.
Some 21 individuals were questioned included gang leader Horatiu Potra, who was part of the Foreign Legion, and his son. He was later detained for 24 hours. The individuals had lists of journalists, politicians who were critical of Georgescu who they were planning to target, police told Digi24.
“They wanted to intimidate” journalists and politicians, sources said.
Police said the group had booked hotel rooms in downtown Bucharest and were traveling to the capital from three different directions to avoid being detected by authorities who were already on to them.
Police officers were reportedly informed about the plan to intimidate unfriendly journalists and politicians and infiltrate protests and they stopped the individuals as they headed to the capital. They confiscated knives, axes, explosives and money.
They found a UMAREX HDR pistol, a tear gas canon, a firecracker type, an axe, eight knives and two knife blades, a stick and various European and African currencies on Potru,Adevarul reported.
Last week, investigative journalist Victor Ilie was threatened by a Georgescu supporter after he revealed that Russian money, paid for in seemingly benign advertisements, featuring homeopathic medicine and news about saints, which came to influence Romanians’ vote in recent presidential elections.

https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comm..._be_targeting/Covert Facebook Network Found to Be Targeting Romanian Voters
Meta Platforms Inc. allowed a network of Facebook pages to post more than 4,100 political ads attacking Romania’s pro-EU presidential candidate Elena Lasconi and promoting far-right figures, including Calin Georgescu, in the run-up to the country’s elections, a report showed.
The campaign was run across 25 seemingly separate Facebook pages for en ies whose websites share hosting, advertising and email infrastructure, indicating an organized effort to influence the election, according to a report by the digital threat research groups Reset Tech and Check First. It’s not clear who was behind the network, which boosted political posts on Facebook and Instagram with advertising spending of as much as €264,909 ($279,610), according to the report.
The shock victory of the pro-Russia, TikTok-loving Georgescu in Romania’s now-abandoned Nov. 24 presidential election has put the role of social media companies under intense scrutiny. Romanian authorities have focused on ByteDance Ltd.’s TikTok, accusing the platform of providing “massive exposure and preferential treatment” to the previously little-known nationalist candidate. But the report by Reset Tech and Check First indicates a wider effort to influence the outcome of the election.
Romania’s top court on Dec. 6 annulled last month’s first-round vote over allegations of meddling by Russia, the first such ruling in the nation’s history. It followed the release of declassified do ents by the country’s intelligence service showing how Georgescu’s TikTok-fueled campaign may have been coordinated by foreign “state actors.” One do ent said that Romania was a target for “aggressive Russian hybrid attacks.” Moscow has denied any interference.
“While TikTok’s role in amplifying disinformation during the Romanian election campaign has been in the spotlight, new evidence shows that Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram were leveraged to spread aggressive political messaging, unverified claims, and polarizing narratives,” wrote the authors of the report.

43K isn't even remotely plausible for a war of this scope and scale
600k russians killed but only 43k ukranians killed
And yet Ukraine is the one losing ground on a daily basis
Kokaine is one uva drug
3-5 drugs
Western media eats its up though as if these were facts and not sorry propaganda.
Kind of reminds me of how when the war started, every month pundits here would say Russia is on the verge of running out of missiles.
I like the one NATO and Ursula Von Der Nazi chanted last year "The Russians have run out of microchips and are using washing machine chips on their missiles"
Another good one is "Russians are now using shovels to fight"
Its comical to the caricature comics level
The Russians have been weeks away from running out of missiles for almost three years now!
3-5 comics
You hate to see it
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c047zrzr2xroUS gives $20bn to Ukraine funded by seized Russian assets
The US has given $20bn (£15bn) to Ukraine, funded by the profits of seized Russian assets.
The economic support forms a significant part of a $50bn (£39bn) package agreed by G7 member nations announced in June.
Funding the aid through frozen assets means Russia has to "bear the costs of its illegal war, instead of taxpayers," US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said.
It comes a matter of weeks before US President Joe Biden is replaced by Donald Trump, who has said he wants to end the war in Ukraine quickly upon taking office.
The president-elect has characterised financial support to Kyiv as a drain on US resources, casting doubt on whether aid will continue under the new administration.
The US Treasury said on Tuesday that it had transferred the $20bn to a World Bank fund, where it will be available for Ukraine to draw from.
Money handled by the World Bank cannot be used for military purposes.

Russia's industrial base is collapsing, and the soviet kit is running out for more than one class of armored vehicle, and artillery tubes.
Their ability to sustain their fight is going to rapidly diminish in the next 6 months.
The rule of thumb for offensive operations is that you take 3x the losses of the defender.
Russia's meat wave tactics have made that ratio vastly worse for the offender. Russia has been offense for most of the war, and UKR does casevac vastly better than RUS, especially because they are the defender, with shorter lines of communication.
It is more than remotely plausible given the scale and scope of the war.
You don't have a ing clue what you're talking about.
The U.S. estimated 70,000 killed on Ukraine's side in August... that was August of LAST YEAR (2023).
Now the manpower problem is so bad for Ukraine that the U.S. is publicly bashing Ukraine for not drafting 18 year olds.
Wow you'd think then that Russia would have won this thing in 3-5 days
