Ukrainian forces withdraw from Lysychansk, their last holdout in key region.

(CNN)Russia has taken control of Lysychansk, the last city in the Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine that was still under Ukrainian control.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin that the military had taken over Lysychansk and a number of nearby settlements on Sunday, according to the country's Ministry of Defense.
Ukraine's military announced Sunday that it had been "forced to withdraw" from the critical city.
Luhansk is one of the two regions that form Donbas, the eastern part of Ukraine where the conflict between Ukraine and Russian-backed separatists started in 2014.
The fall of Lysychansk shifts Russia closer to achieving the goal of taking over Donbas.
"After heavy fighting for Lysychansk, the Defense Forces of Ukraine were forced to withdraw from their occupied positions and lines," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said Sunday on Twitter.

We have found out a very different reality. They suck at fighting. It happens when you really dont want to be there.

Russia holds their by keeping a healthy contingent of Urk women, children and 70-year-old men spread around. Western media has been saying the same thing forever... don't blame them coz you haven't been paying attention
There's three possible outcomes to end this war:
1) Russia takes over the entirety of Ukraine
2) The West has a change of heart about supporting Ukraine militarily
3) Russia loses a war of attrition, including political implosion and the end of the regime there
Right now, 1 and 2 are very unlikely, and 3 has by far the better odds.
There is no 4th option. The war nor sanctions aren't ending when Russia says they do, they really have no say on this.
As long as Ukraine gets the armament and money, they're going to continue to defend and counterattack and Russia will have to defend their gains.
