Forbes (the culprit in not keeping one of Luka/Amina) being shipped out for Hernangomez makes a lot sense right now. I mean, there's no one Hernangomez is worse than the two forwards we already cut, right?
Aminu is gone because he’s washed. Samanic is gone because SA converted KBD’s second year of a 2 way to an NBA 15 man roster contract. They’re both power forwards, and we kept the best one. Do you get it yet? KBD sent Samanic packing.

Zollins and Primo will always show on SA’s roster, no matter where they’re playing. They’re signed to full time NBA contracts.

Letís see what we have and if heís a keeper.

    Tier 1 (Keepers)
    Murray

    Tier 2 ( Wait and see )
Primo - only because he has shown promise and itís way too early to let go
Vassell - I try to compare his trajectory with Murray. Did Murray flash some greatness by year 3 (non injury year)? Next year is important for Vassell to gauge his ceiling. Hopefully, he works on the right things. Right now, heís in the weird phase of trying different things on offense. Heís nowhere near physical enough to be an ISO scorer.

Tier 3 (Culture/ Vet building blocks)
White - but with a reducing role over time, i.e. he goes to the bench. White can become the embodiment of Spurs culture
Keldon - Only if theyíre able to keep him at a decent salary
Landale - heís serviceable. A good guy and is on a cheap salary. No downsides here if they can keep him.
McDermott - Itís great to have a tall shooter after not having one for years. Every team needs a guy like McD.

Tier 4 (For the right deal, trade them)
Poeltl - Early on the season, the team faltered while he was out. Iím thinking now that it was because Eubanks is that bad. Poeltl shines from time to time, but he makes me pull my hair out from time to time.
KBD - honestly a weird tier for KBD to be in since he probably has no trade value. But I think heís good enough to think twice about letting him go

Tier 5 (Meh, trade them if you can)
    Tre Jones
    Lonnie Walker
    Thad Young

Tier 6 (just let these dudes go. They hurt the team)
    Eubanks

Tierless (not sure what to do with these guys)
    Cacok
    Wieskamp
    Hernangomez
I suspect they'd have Johnson in 2, Poeltl in 3, McDermott and Landale in 4, Bates-Diop and Wieskamp in 5 and Walker IV in 6.

Best case scenario for Collins is probably 4.

Until DJM consistently gets to the FT, I cannot call him a tier 1 player. I see him as a very good Robin, ďalmostĒ Pippen good 2way player. But he still needs a Batman.

Devin could very well be a 20+/7/3/2 guy. I donít know if he could be a Batman though. I still donít see that Alpha mentality in him, but maybe because he is still in his 2nd year and still getting in line. But he is a very smooth capable scorer, and heís just going to get better the stronger he gets.

Primo, well he has the Tier 1 mentality. Letís see if his skills catch up. Heís still very raw.

The rest are role players and could part with when opportunity to trade for a tier 1 arise.
    I agree with this.

Also, we are wasting time by not seeing if Vassell can handle more shots. Not sure if that's him being fearful or the team just not recognizing him.

Devins and McDs minutes need to be swapped.

    Vassell is averaging 25.2 minutes
    McDermott 24.5

I don’t know what swapping their minutes would change tbh

Why not give Vassell a shot at starting SF. Then you have two good shooters on either side of Poertl with Murray out front teamed with White. I'm not a big Johnson fan at this point.

    This.
However Johnson is being forced to play 4 when in reality he is a 3-4 and depending on the matchup should often be a 3.
So we have a good problem in that there is a logjam at the 3.
Bad in that no other team wants McD at his contract. Another PATFO Special.

I’s like to see Vassell get most of his minutes at the 2, Keldon at the 3. Ideally both as backups. White and McD opportunistically traded.

I read somewhere that he is going to play in 4 more G League games to get his basketball conditioning up and learn scheme.

On another note I know he could not do any running with a broken ankle but man he is skinny he looks like he has never picked up a weight in his life. He should have at least added 10 pounds of muscle on his upper and then work on them Chicken legs after his ankle healed up.

SA has a quick out and back roadie to Houston. I’m sure Zach is just practicing and conditioning with them

I’m totally fine with it, he can take his time down there unless they are considering moving Jak and want confirmation he can start. I’m pretty sure they are going to guarantee next year so long as he remains healthy.
