really makes me feel like the spurs won't be relocating.
i just found out about this: https://www.ksat.com/sports/2021/11/...at-la-cantera/
really makes me feel like the spurs won't be relocating.
It can easily be repurposed for UTSA right across the highway tbh.
not what i expected when i clicked on the link tbqh
Why did I think “ the rock “ Dwayne Johnson was at la cantera ?
Looks like a cool sombrilla in that plaza area
Haha that’s exactly what I thought
My brother-in-law works in construction and his company won the bid to construct it. He showed me some of the floor plans. It’s gonna be pretty badass tbh. The practice facility itself will be 3-stories with a rooftop.
true but i get the impression the spurs will be in sa for another decade.
i don't think you make this kind of investment with the idea of relocating in 5 to 7 years.
I thought the same thing. I thought Dwayne Johnson was doing a promo with the Spur at La Cantera.
It will all depend on what Michael Dell wants to do with the team. It will take him a couple of years to get a new stadium built in Austin once he acquires another 31% of the team.
But the experts on SpursTalk told me that the Spurs will be in Las Vegas by 2025
I‘m curious to see if this will have a recognizeable effect on the development and health of our players. Seems like the Spurs will have the best training facility in the NBA soon
The traffic there was bad already.
Tbh, much like David and Tim before him - Wemby probably saved the franchise for SA
I don't think there was ever really a serious threat to leave and the team was already heading a good direction, but yes...Wemby definitely makes it easier.
Frank Miceli, chief revenue officer of Spurs Sports & Entertainment, said they expect it to be a record-breaking year for ticket sales.
I think the threat was probably a lot more serious than a lot of people want to admit to. Thankfully I think it's all going to be moot now, but a new arena is going to be discussed soon. Hopefully the City doesn't it up again.
If the Spurs hadn’t won the Lottery and were still dogwater in 2030 when our lease is up with the AT&T Center, there’s a significant chance the team would’ve been headed up I-35 imo. Had we not landed Wemby but were still at least compe ive over the coming years, then that’s prob not the case. But this franchise has been bleeding money the past 3 years and were near dead last in ticket sales the past 2 seasons. Tough for a market as small as ours. I don’t see how they would’ve managed a new arena had that continued. Assuming Wemby can stay relatively healthy and isn’t a complete dud, that more likely isn’t a valid concern any longer, as the above stated. Spurs won the jackpot with this years draft lottery tbh.
Meh, I doubt the Spurs lost any money the past few years. Definitely not as profitable, but ownership knew leaner times were ahead when they agreed to the rebuild.
I would be willing to bet on Vegas as an expansion city when Silver rolls that plan out.
Seattle and Las Vegas are virtual locks to be the two cities.
Read an online blurb that these will be the two cities. Yet another divisional re-alignment as we go from 30 teams and 6 divisions of 5 teams, to 32 teams, and probably 8 divisions of 4 teams.
They either should go back to four divisions, this time with 8 teams each, or better yet just do away with divisions entirely. All that really matters is the conference table anyway.
Spurs are moving.
