I want my 2 mins back
- MOVE ONE:
- We need more scoring from our frontcourt and we need to solve our logjam in the backcourt.
- We could trade Derrick White + Thad Young / John Collins + Jalen Johnson.
- With this move, we give Primo + LV4 the spotlight alongside DJM. We will be a bigger team and will be able to protect the rim better. We will have more spacing because Collins is a big that can shoot the 3 very well.
- MOVE TWO:
- This is a stretch, I know, but we can always dream.
- Imagine a Starting 5 with: Poeltl - Collins - McDermott - DJ Murray - Primo.
- Now imagine if we could add HARDEN to this team!
- Harden will be a free agent next year and we have the money to sign him.
- If we keep losing, we might have a decent draft pick next year too. (Keegan Murray is the pick for me)
- (Harden - DJ Murray - MCDermott - Collins - Poeltl) is intriguing. With Primo, Jones, Vassell, Keldon and a Big and POP we will have an amazing team with an ALL-Star that can take over games.
CONCLUSION
- Move Two is a dream.
- Move One is a great move all day. We are desperate for rebounding and scoring. This could make us a lot better.
- This move could happen in the off-season but it would make less sense to the Hawks. Doing the move now, makes both teams instantly better but might make our 2022 draft pick somewhat worse.
no to Harden, i would legit quit being a Spurs fan if we brought him in.
What if he was so pissed at BKN, that he agreed to sign with us if we would trade him immediately after the waiting period in december?
I would give Harden and Pop 1 whole game before they are at odds with each other.
And that's being generous lol
Lol...the funny thing is Harden coming here is more likely than trading White/Young for Collins/Johnson
it took you two minutes to read that?
It took me 3 tbh
We’d have to clear cap space to sign him or offer up multiple players and multiple first round picks in a sign and trade. All to pay Harden ~50mm to lead us to a first round exit.
Who says no? This trade gives Pop the players he needs for one last run.

We would still have our pick from this year that we can use for best available talent. Maybe Jaden Ivey to help with the front court?
76ers and Pacers say no. Also Jaden Ivey is a guard.
Hawks say no too. Also, CBA says no because McDermott can't be traded to Pacers.
Lol me too…
Don't want Harden, let's hold out for Durant or Giannis.
This is a joke right?
Eh more like thought experiment to kill time.
I think we as Spurs fans tend to over rate our players. Our team is full of potential but as it stands right now we have 0 all stars and its not even guaranteed that Murray will make it this year. I personally think Murray should be off limits but in a swing for the fences scenario like this you would have to give him up. Guards are the most saturated position in the NBA and him and Simmons don't mesh well on paper.
I tried to tie together rumors that are already out there (Philly, Atlanta, Toronto) and threw in the Pacers since they are actively shopping their players. I didn't know about McDermott not being eligible to go back to the Pacers, it worked on the trade machine I used but those can be finicky.
This scenario gives the Spurs two pretty young All-Stars while keeping their top 10 pick this year. This team could very easily be a 3 headed monster if Primo or Vassell take a jump in development next year. Or if we draft a stud.
You as a Spur fan just overrated our players while underrating everyone else in the trade.
Im curious who do you think I underrated?
I think Ben Simmons is damaged goods, Collins is under performing in Atlanta, Maxey just had a really good game but is nowhere close to being on Murrays level. Young also helps them shed cap space this summer.
It's just an asinine trade bud. Not trying to be a or anything, but cmon. Not only are the Spurs essentially turning over basically their entire roster, they end up getting all of the best players out of it just unrealistic on all fronts. All the other teams either get worse or slightly better. It's just a really unrealistic trade idea
Hawks/Sixers are kinda getting ripped off. Toronto gets Poeltl for an expiring and a pick (that doesnt even go to us)? Pacers are getting a pretty nice haul for an ok player who wants out. Spurs have to turn over the majority of their roster. I just don't see it. way too many moving parts, way too many players moving from SA, not enough picks involved.
And we all know the Spurs would never, ever make this type of trade. A for effort and creativity though

Of course, the Spurs would never do this. This is a ridiculous 5 team trade this is mainly me pondering about all the trade rumors we've been in.
That said, let me make a case why each of these teams say yes.
For the Hawks, Collins hasn't been good this year. He's regressed 2 seasons in a row and there were rumors he wasn't getting along with Trae Young. I think White gives them instant upgrade on defense and the Chicago pick is nothing to laugh at. I agree we probably have to sweeten the pot (2nd round pick) but I don't think the gap is as wide as you think.
Philly would probably want a first if we want Maxey. I think Murray provides 80% of what Ben Simmons does and Lonnie is a local kid who can get hot off the bench. Thad Young also give them cap space for next off season. From what I'm hearing Ben has drastically plummeted his trade value.
Toronto does this with no questions asked. Maybe the their pick can go to Philly?
Indy gets McDermott, Keldon to help with the rebuild for a player who doesn't want to be there.
