Honestly the only games I ever rooted for the Spurs to win this season were the ones against the Lakers. Disappointed they won 34 and are wins in NO and Minnesota away from dropping to the #14 pick when they're a treadmill team.

This exactly how I feel. There is nothing to gain from playing the Suns. Spurs getting swept won't make them better and losing a lottery pick hurts to have this pointless experience.
That's exactly why losing in one of the play-in games is the perfect outcome.
Get the cake and eat it too: have the youngings play high-stakes games against opponents gunning for the playoffs too, then lose, and keep your lottery pick with about 20% chances at a top-4. I'm hoping for some good showings from Keldon, DJ, Lonnie, etc, who also have already tasted the play-ins last season. I think Pop throwing the last couple games is a solid signal that they're aware of what should be done and won't actively look to make the playoffs (unless both the Pels and Min/LAC completely fall off, I guess).
