Then how did Donald Trump get elected?

What country has a real democracy and explain why you consider your selection democratic?
Trump was electorially selected... If it was a "democracy" we would've been left with that Hillary because all the re s decided it was a wuhmins time.

Yall cry for the popular vote and in the same breathe call our Cons utional Republic a Democracy.

Of course it's a democracy. You only seem to like it when your candidate wins, but that's not how democracy works.
You might be a computer wiz but a Cons utional Republic is not a Democracy whatsoever no matter how much you lie about it.

What does this even mean? A democracy simply means that government representatives are selected via elections:

a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

It's not mutually exclusive with a Cons utional Republic. As a matter of fact, one thing has nothing to do with the other. Obviously the US has the longest living Democracy in the world.

    Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank what ever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of cir stance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
    Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scrolls,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

So the electoral votes are not representative in any way of peoples votes.
Again. What country do you consider a democracy and why? Why are you so afraid to actually write in specifics? Because you dont know your .

Why do we go to the polls and vote? I mean voters have nothing to do with the process,,, yeah?
By our democracy's rules, Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton.
Thread, kori has basically said your donald was not elected democratically. Its spanky time.

The electoral college has nothing to do with a democratic system. It has to do with representation. We vote the electors, that makes our system democratic. We also vote our Congressional representative, also democratic.

Democracy is comparable with other systems like theocracy (rule by religion), monarchy (rule by a king/queen), autocracy/dictatorship (rule by a single individual, generally a despot), anarchy (no ruler).

I don't particularly have a preference because which party wins generally doesn't affect me in the slightest.

There are plus and cons to each one. The electoral college effectively dilutes individual votes, but it probably is a more faithful representation of this country being a union of states.

I do think a healthy democracy needs alternation, and one party stuck in power for too long tends to drive power trips. That's also why, IMO, Trump had to go.

"For what is a man, what has he got
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels"

This man, this President, this man, he will never kneel.
