Montreal Tesla dealership vandalized amid backlash against Elon Musk

Activists sprayed paint on the exterior of a Tesla dealership in Montreal on Wednesday, as cases of vandalism climb in the United States and around the world against Elon Musk's electric car company.

Montreal police arrested a young man and woman at the dealership on Décarie Boulevard in the city's Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

The climate group Last Generation Canada claimed responsibility. In a statement posted online, the group called on Canada to "stand up" to Musk, who they said is "destroying democracies and spreading climate denial."

trim panels literally spot glued on

Tesla (TSLA.O) is recalling 46,096 Cybertruck vehicles in the U.S.- nearly all Cybertrucks made up to February - to fix an exterior panel that could detach while driving, adding to a series of call-backs for the pickup truck since last year.
While Tesla does not break out deliveries of its Cybertrucks, the recalled vehicles would represent a vast majority of the pickups on the road, based on analyst estimates.

El0n gets a pass from Republicans because he's hurting Americans and wrecking the parts of government that help people, but I don't think they are trading in their murdered out Ford F-150 Raptors for Teslas yet

$1.4bn is a lot to fall through the cracks, even for Tesla

    ...
Compare Tesla’s capital expenditure in the last six months of 2024 to its valuation of the assets that money was spent on, and $1.4bn appears to have gone astray.
The sum is big enough to matter even at Tesla, and comes at a moment when attention is returning to the group’s underlying numbers, now that its fully diluted stock market valuation has crashed from $1.7tn to below $800bn.
A closer look at Tesla’s cash flow statement may also prompt investors to ask other questions, such as why a business with a $37bn cash pile raised $6bn of new debt last year?

    ...

Yet Tesla also raised a net $3.9bn in new finance, on top of the $2.6bn raised in 2023.
A combination of excess cash flow and ongoing capital raising is another red flag that can signal accounting misstatements. Jacek Welc, professor of corporate finance at the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences, has examined 17 such examples including Germany’s Wirecard, the US-listed but Chinese-based Longtop Financial Technologies, and the FTSE-listed hospital chain NMC Health.
He says in those cases “allegedly healthy (but in reality inflated) operating cash flows tend to be matched by significantly positive financing cash flows (and a seeming “cash cow” appears to require large amounts of new debt and/or new equity financing).”

Tesla recalls most Cybertrucks due to trim detaching from vehicle

Tesla said Thursday it is recalling nearly all Cybertrucks in the United States to fix an exterior panel that could detach while driving, the latest in a series of call-backs for the pickup truck.

The recall covers just over 46,000 vehicles built from November 2023 through Feb. 27 of this year, Tesla said in a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall could prove to be a setback for Tesla, whose stock has lost about half its value this year as the EV automaker grapples with rising compe ion, an aging lineup, and backlash against CEO Elon Musk's controversial role overseeing cuts to federal spending in the Trump White House.

The recall addresses risks a stainless-steel exterior trim panel can detach from the vehicle, making it a road hazard boosting the risk of a crash, Tesla said. Tesla's service will replace the rail panel assembly with a new one that meets durability testing requirements, the automaker said.

As many as 80 Tesla vehicles damaged at dealership in Hamilton

Hamilton police say they are investigating a “series of mischiefs” after dozens of Tesla vehicles were damaged at a local dealership this week.

According to police, officers were called to a Tesla dealership, located at 999 Upper Wentworth Street, on Wednesday for a report of damage to some of the store’s inventory.

Police arrived to discover that “upwards of 80” Tesla vehicles parked outside had sustained damage, including deep scratches and punctured tires.

“Police are currently reviewing CCTV camera footage and are asking the public for their assistance in solving this crime,” investigators said in a news release issued Thursday.

El0n sells pie in the sky to Tesla employees and begs them to hang onto their stock

Elon Musk held an "all hands" with Tesla employees and live-streamed it on X tonight. “What’s the most exciting future that you could possibly imagine?" he asked. “A future of abundance for all…. The future we’re headed for is one where you could literally just have anything you want...
...If there’s a good or service you want, you can just have it. Everyone in the world will be able to have anything they want." And he's talking about this as "sustainable abundance" enabled by AI and robotics.
He said Tesla would have regulatory approval "globally" to operate autonomous vehicles in 5 years. "The software update just enables that capability - overnight you have an increase in usefulness overnight..."
"Some people like Cathie Wood at ARK invest DO see the future," Elon Musk said. "So what I'm saying is hang onto your stock." (Applause) "It's mind blowing."
