Despite the Warriors supposed reluctance to trade Kuminga, him, Paul's expiring (he'd be bought out to join a contender of his choosing) and draft capital makes the most sense between the two teams.
Maybe that helps them eke into the playoffs, but they're not going anywhere either way and despite filling the need of another self sufficient scorer, he'd be another front court player who can't space the floor.
