Noice. Good signing tbh. Zach’s looked good this preseason and he plays well off Wemby.

This deal locks him up for the next 3 years.

Feels good to lock up some valuable contributors.

Spurs are set for the long haul with Dev and now Zach etched in stone. One less thing to worry about.

So he can earn more, quicker at the next FA period. I'm sure Zach and his agent insisted on the shorter length.

his injury past is one reason and not totally sold he's the longterm starting center but easy choice to bring him back based on market for centers

Smart signing. Totally reasonable salary for a starting C in today's NBA, and if he takes one more post injury step up in his development, he could be with the Spurs for a long while. Worse case scenario, he's an appealing trade piece. Something like Collins + KJ + FRPs potentially gets you a big time piece if that opportunity arises.

In three years a lot of cap space and decisions will be made + the next two drafts will dictate salary we take on vs positions available.

    He's definitely valuable as enforcer.

This was the confirmation I was looking for. So yeah, $54M/3ish is the min extension cap for non-rookie players. That's huge. In two CBAs it went from those guys not being eligible for an extension at all, to getting a min cap of like $24M/3 when last CBA started to way more than double that now.
