The best part of this heat wave has been reading all the re ed comments on Nextdoor. Every time CPS comes out says to conserve energy, there could be rolling blackouts, etc, people start blaming EVs for being too much of a drain on Texas' grid.

111 degrees recorded in 1947 in San Antonio. There are no consistent records before 1930 although there is a recording of 4 degrees in 1899. It also was -4 degrees in 1947. 6 degrees in 1989 and 9 degrees in 2021.

There is nothing the US can really do without going to war with India and China and that won't probably work, either. The US may think it lives in a bubble, but it does not. Greenhouse gases - China (29%), India 7%, USA 14%, Russia 5%. Studies say you have to reduce by 43% to stop global warming. Even if the USA got to net zero, which will never happen, you still are 29% off. Reduction of oil usage in the USA will increase use of oil in 3rd world countries as it becomes a cheap alternative. Then we will have to aks what are we going to do with all the toxic waste created by disposed of solar panels?
