Nice idea to make our #1 more then happy
Reminds me of ATL’s John Collins
Do Frenchies have to declare for the draft like US college kids?
I think you're automatically eligible once the boxes are checked.
Bilal is the truth bro,,, he is even younger than Victor![]()
Someone should also make defensive highlights vids from Bilal. That's where he'll first get minutes in the NBA. Anyway, I'm all in the "trade up for Bilal" train.
He’s a wing. Vassell, Branham, Johnson, and to some extent Sochan gobble up the minutes there. If the Spurs trade up for Coulibaly, who do they discard to make room?
Anyone, Spurs aren't stuck with the current roster.
All players are replaceable if better players/fits around Wemby are found.
KJ
A team that drinks the koolaid of Coached by Pop / Team USA gold in the World Commercial Games.
I mean, if Wemby blesses it you make it happen. Spurs certainly have enough draft capital to go get him. The Bucks have paid Giannis's sh!tty brother(s) to be on the roster for how long now? This guy at least would contribute at some point.
How high do you think they’d have to trade up to get him? Dallas at 10? Orlando at 11? I’ve seen mock drafts with him as high as 13. Is that credible? Or do you think Utah at 16 would do it? Or even lower?
And how many FRP’s would you be willing to trade to get him? Which ones?
The CBS mock draft has him 27. NBAdraftnet has him 14. Utah's pick might get him depending on how the draft goes. A couple of our own future firsts might be worth it if we really think we'll be relevant again in a couple of seasons. Two lower half of the first round picks might be worth a player of his caliber. Heck, throw in an asset or two, or some of the bucket of seconds we own. It depends on if the Spurs see him as that valuable to Wemby's future and the team's success I suppose. If he's a piece that would cement Wemby in San Antonio it probably justifies the move.
Which boxes?
USA doesn't allow 18 anymore.
I'm really high on this kid. 18 and already a starter on a french playoff team. 2-way potential.
That doesn't matter. You can play 4 wings in the rotation and Bilal will need some time until he breaks out.
BKN has both the 21st & 22nd picks in the First Round. He’s projected in that range, and they might be willing to trade one of em. Would prob cost the Spurs 2 Firsts though and I’m not sure this kid warrants that. He hasn’t stood out much in the Mets92 games I’ve watched recently, granted I just started watching after the lottery.
I'd rather Wemby bond with his new teammates rather than potentially catch littermate syndrome.
Yup, and the three of Devin, Keldon and Bilal can play 2/3. It's perfectly possible to pair them. Bilal difference and real NBA potential being in defense for now. The rest can come up progressively if it has to. He's really athletic, fast with a nice BBIQ. I can see his first years as a defensive specialist getting the bulk of his points in fast break, put back dunks or ally oops + the occasional corner 3.
In that case, don’t you need to discard Malaki? You can only develop so many players at once. Or do you make him play out of position at PG?
Is Bilal eligible or not?
All drafted players must be at least 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft.[14] To determine whether a player is eligible for a given year's draft, subtract 19 from the year of the draft. If the player was born during or before that year, he is eligible. If a player is less than 19, add 19 to the year he was born.
-granted this is Wiki, i have not checked NBA.com
Wasn't Sean Marks a "sidekick" of some famous player and went with him as a package deal?? I know someone will know without me trying to find it.
If the Spurs like a prospect enough and they're right in their assessment, like with Number Two, what we consider an overpay wouldn't actually be one. If the Spurs had sent a future first with George Hill and only gotten Number Two (without Bertans), it still would have ended up being a steal.
I get that you don't want to overpay in general because not every player you trade up for will be a hit, let alone a home run. But I trust the Spurs FO enough that if they appear to pay too much for a pick, that they had a good reason to do so and could end up turning it into a great trade.
I know Antonio Daniels and Tim Duncan were tight. Tim wasn't happy to see AD traded, but they won the le in 03 thanks to help from Steve Kerr, so Timmy probably felt better after that.
