I had not considered the idea of Sochan being the guy you assign to the physical matchups. Given the current roster, I'd probably throw Zollins into that role. I keep coming back to the idea that the Spurs need some bulk on the front line and need to address that via the draft or free agency.

I'm all for the slow & steady build around Wembanyama (and Sochan), but the one worry I have is that by the trade deadline KJ loses his starting spot, and to a large degree his trade value. Perception matters, as we can see with the strange acquisition the Lakers made for Westbrook. Most people thought it was a bad fit, and it was-- but it happened because Westbrook still held some allure for some folks as a guy that gets you lots of pts, rebounds, and assists. Even though his team was bad and his impact stats weren't great, KJ still has the perception of being a 20 ppg starter. If he gets bumped to the bench, his trade value plummets.

Remember when Dwight Howard was the starting pf in his rookie year, I think Cato was the center.

I don't think Wemby is a center yet. Maybe end of game match ups when teams go 5 out.

Yep. I believe if KJ starts it is because they are planning to trade him. His skills are actually best utilized as the lead scorer off the bench. If Sochan starts I believe the FO sees KJ more as a long term piece and are slotting him into the spot that best suits him.
