They should have made precise requirements to get into the playoffs instead of just some honks sitting in a room guessing who they think is best.
I think they should cap it at three teams per conference. That way you do give the smaller schools a chance to come there and shake things up. Look at the NCAA tournament. Everybody loves the Cinderella.

So what's your solution? You can sit here and play skeptic as much as you want but the fact is nothing has worked yet.
Like I said, the four team model was put in place specifically so the undefeated conference champs could play each other. The easy solution is to just follow the rules as they were originally made. As far as I know, nobody ever punished a team for losing a player to injury. That was never a factor before. Now suddenly it's bigger than being undefeated.

Ron Desantis is a ing moron, but maybe lawsuits from the schools will make a difference. ESPN and the committee have cost FSU millions of dollars. If I were head of the university I'd be considering sending just freshmen to play in the bowl game or something.

Don't be fooled into thinking the Playoff is expanding to make it more fair

It's expanding so that the SEC/Big10 can get more of their teams in

But didn't they? Head to head was supposed to be a precise requirement, but they dinged Baylor despite beating TCU because they had a weak non conference schedule. They have these rules but then violate them to put their team in.

It's not guessing who's best, it's making as much money as they can.

fsu fans r u had ur chance to be in the sec.........let us remember what ur administration said

"I felt that it was too difficult to win through the SEC to win a national championship," Bowden told Finebaum. "I felt like our best route would be to go through the ACC

It'll be more fair if they make specific rules to get in like all power 5 plus group of 5 groups champions, two at large and then rank them in order based on BCS computer rankings

What they need to do though is to ditch about 64 teams from the FBS level and go power five only.

.the ncaa tournament works because basketball schools can only have 13 scholarships which spreads out the player base leading to parity.........football has 85 if ncaa used ur method there would be more tcu vs uga blowouts which would drive away viewers..............

One idea I had a while back was have 16 eight team conferences made by teams in similar geographic regions.....like all the Florida schools in the same conference. 7 Conference games and 5 non.

16 Conference Champions make the playoffs. Have a live lottery to decide the seedings 1-16. 1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, and so on. Week 1 has 8 games. Week 2 has 4 games. Week 3 has 2 games. Week 4 is the National Championship Game.

Sounds good but TV doesn't care. That's why USC and UCLA joined the big 10 and Stanford joined the ACC LOL

    let's just be real now

Michigan Bama Georgia and Ohio State (and probably a few others who missed the playoffs) would all steamroll the noles without Travis.

it lets the clearly superior teams get their shot, along with the clearly inferior teams with misleading records

    win win

SEC Champion was going to be forced fed into the Playoff no matter what occurred elsewhere

We saw the narrative change on ESPN halfway thru the season, before Travis' injury. Why not? It's all hypothetical once you ignore W-L and plunge down the rabbit hole

You mean like how Michigan was supposed to steamroll TCU last year?

I have always despised sec favoritism but tbh they (and bama in particular) have earned the benefit of the doubt

an undefeated team with a weak schedule and a number of struggles against lousy teams, and then lost their star QB and looked like total crap the last few games isn't going to get benefit of the doubt over a nick saban team that won the SEC by beating the undefeated defending champ.

an expanded playoff will prevent these kinds of conversations from even coming up. the arguments will in instead be among some 11-2 teams that didn't win their conference, which will be far less egregious than leaving out undefeated conference champs.
