Recently offered '26 S Chace Calicut of Galena Park North Shore talks Texas (247):

"It honestly feels good. I worked hard for it," Calicut said of being the next highly touted defensive back prospect to come through North Shore. "Our coaches remind me everyday it's not given, I gotta go get it but it feels good."

"We (he and Coach Joseph) talked about how the school is and how much he wants me there," Calicut said of his conversation with Joseph. "He said I fit in their scheme and that I fit in like Michael Taaffe. He said I play similar to Michael Taaffe. That felt good to hear too, because that's a good player. Who doesn't want to play like Michael Taaffe?"

"I love their DBs. They fly around, hit, and when they turn up they turn up the whole team. I love their DBs and how they play, I feel like they play like me."

"I just want to see how it really works. Because when I was there it was gameday and everybody was outside so I want to see how it is on a regular day. And then my guys are down there, Caleb Chester and Jaime Ffrench. I know all them boys and they're my guys so it should be cool and I look forward to getting down there and seeing the campus again."

"Oh yeah Texas for sure," Calicut said of his current standouts. "Texas has been one of my dream schools since I was a little kid. Forever been a Longhorns fan. I played for a little league team called the Longhorns so Texas has been standing out. Of course Oregon stands out. Michigan, LSU, think those standout but I think Texas is leading the race for sure."

"I'll probably commit in July. Or sometime this summer when I'm done with my official visits."
