White and Murray were late first round picks, not #4. We also had a cast of vets surrounding them at that point. Were they supposed to bench HoF Tony Parker for rookie Murray?

Castle is thgoing to play. He may not start day one, but he will be on the court health-willing.
you do'nt put a pick number on the floor but a player and the pick does'nt make the player. TP was a 29th pick and he started after 4 games on a contending team. There's no rules, if you can start, you start, if you're not ready, you don't. Victor's not gonna spend the season watching Castle brick 3pointer after 3 pôinter if dude can shoot for his life.

Then Murray and White are better players, and then had bigger potential, than Castle will probalby ever be. I trade Castle for D White on a heartbeat, so retrospectively your argument can't stand.

Obviously it's too early to conclude anything but Risacher played exactly how I feared he'd play. He's tall and moves pretty well but I'd be scared as a Hawks fan that he doesn't even try to make plays in summer league. Can't draft Harrison Barnes No. 1.
Too early to draw conclusions bur Castle is playing exactly how I feared he would... Shooting 37% overall and 25% on 3 in 3 games. He's physical and moving well but as a spur fan I would be scared he's not really a playmaker and can't even make a shot in summer league. you don''t just pick a cutter with the #4 pick.

And Risacher is actually having a decent summer league so far dropping 17pts (7/16, 3/9 on 3, 5rbs, 2blk, 1 steal the game before) getting nice reiviews for his high BBIQ, lengh and mobility... Many Hawks fans I'm reading are actually seeing the potential and rather excited.

Not to mention Risacher's never been sold as a playmaker or 30pt a night guy. He's coming from a pro team with vet PGs. Playing in disorganised BB, among wannabees or rookies trying to assert themselves in messy games isn't the best configuration for him to let his high BBIQ speak... He'll be more comfortable with a real NBA PG and environment, living off of real playmakers in organised BB.

    Your cognitive dissonance is stunning.

Castle shows high level PG chops in SL.

    It’s just SL

Risacher shows some scoring in SL

Obviously, he’s going to be great, even if it was the same summer league Castle was in.

The most impressive thing about this team easily is their defense, it's nonstop harassing effort. I've never seen a Summer League team play defense with that unrelenting intensity.

It gives them an edge on almost every game.

You can't possibly base Castle's future off what he did in a few summer league games.

If that was the case, Duncan was going to be a bust because he wasn't great in summer league either.

You should probably just pump the breaks a bit. Kawhi came in without a jump shot and became one of the most lethal shooters in the league.

This. Kawhi couldn’t shoot for when he came into the league, but the Spurs player development did an amazing job with him, and Kawhi had a great work ethic before he didn’t.

Granted, we still had Chip Engelland back then which helped...but the point remains, shooting can be fixed. It's much harder to teach the kind of pace and passing instincts that Castle comes in with.

Well if Kenny Trevino grew up watching Spurs games when he was young, then he knows what defense is, so if he's emphasizing that, it's GREAT to see. These guys are playing hard and that still has me interested to watch.

Defense and playing hard is actually the reason I liked Pop back in the 1996/1997 season. The Spurs may have had a lot of injuries and were lacking talent, but they played hard almost every game. That won me over that season and I really wanted to see what he could do when the Spurs had the talent back.
I hope Pop can somehow go back to being a little bit more like that old (younger) Pop.

Nikola Djurisic broke his foot in the first quarter of the game, explaining why he didn't return. Obviously he's out for the rest of the SL.
