Burgum was the worst possible choice. Extremely boring, monotone, and Pence-like except from a state with a very teeny tiny population. If Heidi Heitkamp was still on the ballot.... I could see it, but she was taken out in 2018.

Rubio and Youngkin were the best choices, but this is definitely a "Nixon's Nixon" pick.

Burgum will be the energy cabinet member
    He drill baby drill
Get these gas prices lower which will lower cost on all thinks

Picking a VP candidate who once compared you to Hitler is an interesting choice, but it's not like conviction is a GOP litmus anymore.
He realized he was wrong became good friends with his son
    Not a surprising pick

To clarify before I'm challenged I wanted a more rational moderate like Burghum to hopefully temper Trumps more extreme positions
Extreme on a couple thinks but better then a rino like Haley

He was almost a master carpenter
Not bad for a 22 year old
He was making 29 an hour
Not bad at all. I'm sure hanging out on the other side of existence is better than living with you as his father

Vance says he doesn't hide from prior criticism of Trump, arguing it could help turn skeptics
    From CNN's Kit Maher
Donald Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, said he doesn’t hide from his prior harsh criticism of the former president – whom he once called a “moral disaster,” “reprehensible” and possibly “America’s Hitler” – arguing that his initial skepticism could help him “make a good case” to Trump skeptics in 2024.

“I don’t hide from that. I was certainly skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016. But President Trump was a great president, and he changed my mind,” Vance said. “He delivered that peace and prosperity.”
As CNN’s KFILE reported, Vance said in 2016 and 2017 that Trump was “cultural heroin” and “just another opioid” for Middle America.

“I bought into the media’s lies and distortions. I bought into this idea that somehow he was going to be so different, a terrible threat to democracy. It was a joke,” Vance said.

Vance argued his prior skepticism could be an asset.

“I said some bad things about Donald Trump 10 years ago,” he said. “I can make a good case to the American people, people who may have been skeptical of the president back in 2016, who could be skeptical now, that we’ve seen the results.”

Right. Drill baby drill indeed. But Trump picking a governor who signed a draconian abortion ban would have been electoral cancer... same goes for Desantis, Abbott etc. Youngkin was the only gubernatorial pick that would have made sense.

Vance was raised by a single mother who survived domestic violence. He joined the Marines after 911. When he returned to Ohio, he graduated with a degree from Ohio St. He went to Silicon Valley and made his fame as a venture capitalist. He understands at a high capacity financing, business, and technology. He later went to Yale to get his degree in law where he met his wife who is of India descent. She was a democrat at one point, but later changed parties. Both elected to become Catholics. Usha, his wife, is most of the time the smartest person in the room in any room she enters. Like him or hate him, he has a great story.

I mean it's a nice background I guess but I don't think Hollywood is knocking on that one

Noem - shot her dog and wrote about it
Vance - his family shot random people and he capitalized on it in his book. Even bragged a bit about immortalizing them because of it. The Hatfield and McCoys legacy isn't one of crossing isles to shake hands.

Biden and Harris are the only moderates in this race.

Romney feted JD Vance when he was just an author, but was disgusted by the political transformation.
