For the third game in a row.
Wheres that Maverick fan that said Finley dissapears at the end of games.....
What a stud.
Michael did disappear horribly in the playoffs, esp vs Suns last spring, esp in the elmination game. The season doesn't mean , let's see how he does in the playoffs.

... as a scorer, his numbers move in the wrong direction in the playoffs.
I still can't believe he's paying him to play for the Spurs. That's what he gets for being so damn y in believing that Fin would go to the east.
Go Fin.![]()
He was averaging a load of minutes during the season, that is why his numbers always dropped in the post-season. I think, with limited minutes, he will be a lot fresher than he ever was in the playoffs and be able to make a solid contribution. He will not disappoint.
"He was averaging a load of minutes during the season"
False, last season, 36 MPG, nothing iron-man about that, and only 3 MPG more than coddled Tim Duncan, and less than 3 Suns starters who elminated Mavs.
only problem is Michael Finley is too old to average those kinds of minutes.
Had Horry averaged those minutes, he wouldn't have been even close to playing as well as he did.
Perspective please.
Put the crack pipe down and walk away.
This game was all about screen/rolls and isos. Rahim was on fire tonight. Miller played some good D on Timmy in the post. Timmy was doubled and tripled there near the end but he still stepped it up and made some big plays.
The Kings hit a lot of shots, some of them tough, well-contested. They beat the Spurs to a lot of loose balls and rebounds. The Spurs lacked a sense of urgency on rebounds except for Bruce Bowen. There weren't many turnovers in this game but the officiating was pretty sorry. Violet Palmer missed some plays looking right at them at close range. It was a little frustrating for the Spurs.
The Spurs can blame themselves for this being a close game. They didn't move very well or the ball very well in several stretches there...particularly the 2nd qtr. There weren't as many ball reversals as they usually have, and when they don't move the defense, they have a much tougher time scoring. Manu was really missed in that aspect of things. If you didn't see the game, you could probably tell the Spurs were NOT running a lot of motion offense or moving well. It was mostly high screen/roll and post hub and spoke looks. Telling stat of the night in that regard: Parker 12 assists, the rest of the Spurs 5 assists.
Parker was terrific tonight and he made a couple of big plays down the stretch, including the draw and create to Finley for the game-winner. It's a win, or a non-loss as some of you might say.
Well, Finley did it again tonight. Boy, he save me from embarassment when I return to the Capitol to work Monday. Who in the heck was guarding Abdur-Rahim and Bibby? These guys nearly beat us on their own.
Timmy and Horry had SAR most of the time. Parker was on Bibby most of the time. Bibby and Parker both spent the evening scraping each other off screens for their shots. SAR is just a scoring machine around the paint. He has tremendous touch, like the ball is a magnet, inside of 15 feet.
I agree. Finley should be averaging no more than 20 in the regular season for him to be effective in the playoffs.
Michael Finley is only 32. People are acting like he's ancient.
The Spurs will have a real test now leading up to Christmas. This was the first of a 4 games in 5 nights stretch. The Spurs could be literally going into a Hornets nest Sunday night. That team has upset some good teams in the new arena in OKC. Beware of the fade late in the 3rd period and following.
Yeah back to backs have not been good to the Spurs thusfar. Hopefully they will get their together and get the W.
Horry is only 33 34 and he has to be treated that way.Michael Finley is only 32. People are acting like he's ancient.
Finley has alot of miles on his body due to Nelson's horrible management, and injuries to the groin, ankle, and hammys.
Hes got alot of miles, so you have to treat him that way.
What a game tonight. Parker had another All-Star like performance again tonight. He looked very good. Michael Finley came in clutch. I'm so excited about how many guys we can have out there during clutch time. By the way, does anybody know when Manu might come back?
Finley is 3 years younger than Horry, but I know what you mean about him playing a lot of minutes in the past.
I still think the Spurs might consider starting him over Manu though if Manu keeps getting hurt this season. We need Manu for the postseason. He's a playoff performer and they have to do whatever they can to make sure he's healthy and rested.
T Park is right. Look at average mpg year by year for Finley. A number of years he was run ragged.
I agree. Better Manu healthy for the playoffs than Finley.
Speaking of minutes, the Spurs have really balanced out the minutes this year compared with some of the other top teams. Tim and Tony could use a few less minutes (35-36 minutes/game) but the 2nd unit is getting some good time.
The Spurs top 10 rotation players all have double-digit minutes/game average. If you look at Detroit, all of their starters are in the 34-36 minutes range. Mo Evans, McDyess and Arroyo are the only other double-digit minutes players and they are all under 20 min./game.
Well one person that everyone thought his minutes would go down with the new acquistions is averaging a career-high in minutes per game. BRUCE BOWEN. I'm not sure if it's such a bad thing because he's healthy. He's also averaging career highs in points, rebounds, assists, FG% and 3 pt FG%.
But I'm still wary.
And another note:
Bruce Bowen has played 295 consecutive games for San Antonio, one short of the team record held by Avery Johnson.
