    Balance tilts West
Eastern Conference lags more than ever in star power, talent

All sorts of statistical information exists to support the assertion that the NBA's Western Conference is far superior to the East.

The East had a feeble 170-250 record against the West last season. This year, it's 34-80.

Over the past two seasons, the top four teams in the West have won more games than any East team, and the West has a dominating 20-6 record in the NBA Finals since 1998, Michael Jordan's last le-winning season in Chicago.

This year, the East has 10 teams under .500, including the entire Atlantic Division other than 11-10 Philadelphia. Only two West teams are under .500.

The 16-5 Pacers, who just completed a rugged 2-3 Western swing, are 10-2 vs. the East. Their next six games are against East teams, five of which have won less than 37 percent of their games.

Lakers are like 17-3 right now.

And some say their not playing their best yet.

If they contineau this, they will finish the season 70-12 :o
