In my experience, either the disk was dirty or scratched , or the lens inside the ps2 was dirty. Helps to buy a lens cleaner
Sometimes when we put games into our system, the damn thing says it can't read the disk?
WTF is up with that?
Anyone know?

Ours would mess up, too. Once we changed the position of the system, it's been problem free.
Mine was recently doing that also. I bought a laser lens cleaner disc (even though it says not to use it on gaming systems) and fixed the problem.
One of these days I'll have to actually check out a PS2, Xbox or Gamecube and see if they're all their cracked up to be.
Vinyl albums won't work in it, Sequ.
Get an Xbox...and throw your PS2 away.
You need a game cube, it is geared for people like you.
By the time Pooh gets around to checking them out, they'll be obsolete.
You might want to get a grownup to load the discs for you. I notice little ones tend to drop and scratch the discs. :wink
Maybe when I get my royality check in February...now get out and by the book.
Actually there is a website somewhere that answers this question. If all the afformentioned advice dosnt work. People like teach you step by step how to open up your ps2 and clean it. My brother actually did it to his.
Thanks for the responses, I figured you couch potatoes would know the answer.
What are ya gonna do with that $200?
Has anyone in the forum bought the book?
$18 for a 138 pages is not in my budget.
For $18 I can get a good buzz on without using my reading skills.
What would any good blooded american choose?
A "cheap" buzz goes away...the book wont.
What's the book led?
This is the website (or a similar one) that you're talking about.

I did that to mine, and it didn't fix a thing. Seems to work for a lot of people, but I ended up just taking mine in to Gamerz (off 1000 Oaks) and they fixed it for about $20.
Here's another site showing the same thing.

Do a search for "ps2 Disk read error" and you'll have a ton of choices.
If you have one of the first PS2's than the newer games can not be played of them.
That is a nice thing to know from what I can tell by your financial status you probably use a PS 3?
