I think it is a sport. I'd love to discuss it, but I don't know anything about it. I'd sure read a discussion about it, though, because I'd like to learn. Hope you get some takers!
OK... I know spearfishing is not a sport, but anyway - is here anyone interested?

Just go to Google or Yahoo and type in search box spearfishing... for the start.
Post some cool pics.
Biggest fish ever landed by spearfishing?
I think most people catch these down here with bow and arrow, I guess if you had a speargun you could use that.
Bluefin tuna, current world record, 655 pounds
Black marlin,533 pounds
Black marlin, 581 pounds
Blue marlin, 587 pounds

NICE, I LIKE
how can you tell if the fish is undersize before you shoot it
There is a guy Frogmans in port A that does scuba and spear fishing trips to the rigs off mustang island.
Those are some badasss pics.
All caugfht w/speargun?
You can see the difference , but you must have some experience.
Yes. With really big and strong spearguns.
never tried it but I guess it would be cool to see a fish face to face then shoot it. We are not talking about standing on a rock and throwing a piece of wood on the blue lagoon spear right ? we are talking about scuba diving with spearguns. I just hit the coast and go after reds and specks
Oh no, no! You are wrong (as many people thinking just that for spearfishing)!
It is about snorkeling with speargun = spearfishing, which is much more difficult (and much more interesting) than scuba diving with spearguns.
But unfortunately there are some who do it with scuba gear
