I simply do not understand the hype for the Halo games.
To me a first person shooter is a first person shooter...so you get different weapons, wow, so you can butt them the handle of your rifle, oooo, so you can use jet packs and grenades

It's an average game at best. XBox is all about FPS, that's why the 360 has been outsold by the ps2 since the day the 360 came out. There are no 3rd party games, it's all Tom Clancy Ghost Recon v. 5.4.3 and halo. Most eveyone who has an xbox is because all they care about it graphics. If you look at a top 20 list for game sales in a month, there will be 4 game for xboxs, 2 FPS, a racing game and madden. Ps2 wil have 12 games that are all different types of game.

You guys forget the storyline, the cenema and the whole movement of how the game relates to the fan as a person.

Halo by far is, and will be again the best ever game sold or played because the fans made it that way. To me that's like a few sour apples saying the Rolling Stones suck now even though they broke all records of their time.
The main reason for the explosion of Halo is the storyline, and the fact that it's so brilliant that Peter Jackson (director of Lord of the Rings if you dont know) is currently doing the movie based off of Halo's story. And this isn't just a game made into a movie that always fails either, they're actually going to use the storyline instead of making it some short lined action junk.
And it will more than likely be a trilogy as well if the final game Halo 3 of the series does well and the first movie does, which it will knowing the huge fanbase.
All that has to be done is really just perfection. If Peter Jackson and the cast he assembles and the millions and millions of dollars being spent by Microsoft and Jackson himself on these sets stay honest and true to Halo's story. This movie will make just as much of an impact on the market as the games did.
Halo 2 had horrible offline storyline, it had absolutely no ending.
GTA San Andreas blew halo2 out of the water when it was released on ps2. It outsold it by over 1 million copies.
The online aspect of the game is decent. Except it lags horribly when you get more than 10 in a room, and the match maker sucks.

125 millions copies, wtf are you smoking? Microsoft hasn't even sold 40 million xboxs yet, as of when the game came out there were 9.8 million Xboxs in homes around the country, compared to 24.9 million PlayStation 2s. Halo2 might of sold well the first week, but GTA has since blew it out of the water.
I hope you are joking. Halo 2 selling 125,000,000 on day one? There are multiple problems with this re ed comment.
#1. That would make Halo 2 easily the highest selling game of all time. However, Mario Bros on NES is the #1 selling game of all time.
#2. The Xbox userbase is only in the low 20 millions. Why would a game selling 6 times the amount of its userbase? Did everyone with an Xbox go out and buy themselves a copy of the game, AND 5 more copies just for the of it?
#3. Halo 2 was not even the top selling game of 2004 in the US, that le belongs to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Halo 2 was also outsold by Dragon Quest VIII worldwide in 2004.
I think you just read an article claiming Halo 2 made $125,000,000 in sales on day one and mistook it to mean 125,000,000 copies, which is just impossible.
