History will record that Brent Barry enabled the Spurs to acquire J.R. Smith, who went on to win 5 NBA MVP awards and 6 scoring les.

I was in the gym the other day just shooting around with some buddies and a friend of mine took a goofy halfcourt shot that bounced in almost the same way as Barry's did. Before that and before this thread, I hadn't thought of it.

With the way the spurs lost, the shot might as well be in the gutter.

Most of the people have already forgotten it, and have long since shuffled it under the mat of "reasons to trade Barry"

The Spurs didn't lose due to lack of athleticism. Only a Kings fan would believe that.

No. Just like no one will remember Kobe's Dunk. It'll be on the highlights of the 2006 postseason, and the Spurs 2005-06 season review, but beyond that - it is not transcendant.

When you don't win all that's remembered is the L.
    Not exactly true.

    -Larry Johnson's 4-pointer
    -Michael's shot against the Cavs
    and, of course,
    -0.4*

So when you say "Barry's shot" people will know what you're talking about. But it won't be remembered as an all-time great shot.

Funny thing about the Spurs-Mavs series. As great a series as it was, not exactly very many memorable shots. Just calls and missed opportunites on both sides.
