That thought has occurred to me too...
Win and you open the WS with the best 1-2 punch in the game. Lose and that punch is still available to get you to the WS.
Let's put an end to the 3-day rest nonsense.
You'll have a rested bullpen, and if you lose, you bring back Clemens on 4 days rest, and you can use Oswalt in long relief if you have to.

Munro looked really good in Game 2, and I thought he should have been left in longer.
Here's what I would do, crazy as it may sound.... Munro for 4 innings, Clemens for 3-4 innings in relief, and Brad Lidge to finish them off.
Clemmens will have 4 days rest tomorrow, he can pitch game 6.
uh Jim, the game is tommarow.
He would only have 3 days rest.
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, thats three days my man lol.
Oh, my bad, I keep thinking he pitched on Friday.
I alos say to pitch Munro, I do not want to pitch Roger on 3 days rest, ever. If you use him up in game 6, then you have to put Munro in in critical game 7. I would rather put Pete in in game 6 where there is less pressure.
Actually, if you pitch clemens tonight you can pitch Oswalt tommarow on 3 days rest also.
Ala games 4 and 5 against Atlanta.
I wouldnt do it, but, Garner proved me wrong in the Atlanta series and hes made some controversial but smart moves, so , what the , hes the manager.
Oswalt blows on 3 days rest, he really has not pitched well at all lately, so I would not use him in game 7, unless it is out of the pen.
ya....since you are up a game...you can hold clemens back....he has gone enough on 3 days rest and doesnt give you the same quality...but he will be ready if given the call.
Plus, if Munro wins, then you have your rotation set up and in order for the WS....it is a win win situatuation.
Thats what I have always said and I agree.
BUT, Garner I think likes the 3 man rotation, and its hard to argue with the results.
Clemens didnt loose that game 4, the bullpen did, and Oswalt pitched good enough for the Astros to win game 5.
SO I would argue with whats happened so far.
According to Brad Lidge on the Dan Patrick Show, Munro will start Game 6.
If you take out Puhols in Houston, the rest of the Cardinal lineup hit .086 in Houston. That is amazing.
Officially announced Pete Munro will start game 6.
more than likely pitch a no hitter and that will be that.
Well, that is just fine with me. I think he will do a good job, but the Astros better swing the bat better than the last time he pitched in St Louis. And do not pull him in the 5th if they score 3 freaking runs.

Munro had a good game against the Cards, after studying Lima's pitching performance in the NLDS. I expect that the Cards will be prepared for him... and I'd like to see Clemens come in if the game is close in the 5th.
Leave him in and then bring in Micelli and Qualls, they are due to pitch well and are rested.
I don't want to see Miceli even warming up unless we are up/down by 12 runs in the bottom of the 9th. He has awful, awful stuff.
leave micelli and qualls in houston
Better still, see if you can get them in Cardinal uniforms.
The Cardinals have enough bad pitchers right now.
Both have been great all year...they will come through. They have nobody else to use tonight.
