Men : GINOBILI (ARG) "We want a medal"

ATHENS, 22 August - After another hard-won victory, this one against New Zealand, the Argentinian Men's Basketball team goes into the quarterfinals aiming high.

"We are becoming a better team by the game and knowing the tournament and our opponents is important," said team leader Emanuel David GINOBILI (ARG).

"We want to get up to that podium and win a medal. And we are playing pretty well, with only one loss."

The San Antonio Spurs player - the only Argentinian with an NBA championship ring - is not underestimating the job ahead.

"Spain and Lithuania are playing well - they are both unbeaten - and the USA is always a favourite, but we are in there with them. Teams like Serbia & Montenegro, Puerto Rico and Greece are also tough."

After the USA-Lithuania game, it's not hard to envision a semis scenario without the Dream Team. Damn what a waste of Duncan.

Right now I can't see Argentina getting anything above bronze, or maybe silver if they grow bigger fangs. But they've definitely got a better chance than the US. Goddamn what a waste of Duncan.

    Humm...

I think we can beat Lithuania without much trouble, but Spain is really tough, we will need to get some hot hands to beat 'em.

Yeah, they're still not going inside enough through him....

And now is when you get to appreciate a Robert Horry or Ginobilli who can actually post feed Duncan.

Some of Duncan's Team USA teammates are throwing him really lazy passes which forces him to shift his footwork out of his scoring zone. They really don't know what they have.

    spacefish,

I dunno what you're talking about. Argentina has been the most impressive basketball team in the Olympics so far. Right now I think they're the favorite for the gold

If US and Argentina match up, it could get ugly. Argentina could run them out of the gym.

This will only happen if the US plays lazy D. Argentina cannot shoot consistently from outside and as PR and LIT have prooved it, this is pretty much what you definetely need to beet the Americans.

IMO, Team USA should not be overly concerned if they play Argentina.
