The Bucks did not make a pick in Thursday's NBA draft, but the team did provide a brief update regarding point guard T.J. Ford, last year's first-round selection. Ford bruised his spinal cord when he landed awkwardly during a February 24 game and missed the remainder of the season. He underwent surgery in April, and the team expects him to resume strengthening and treadmill exercises on July 15. "He met again with the doctors in L.A. and got a clean bill of health," general manager Larry Harris told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "His progress is excellent, and the doctor reiterated to our medical staff and to me that he's expected to be there the opening day of training camp."

Ford was a good source for assists in his rookie campaign, although he hobbled his fantasy value by scoring only 7.1 points per contest and shooting 38.4 percent from the floor. We'll keep an eye on him once training camp opens, and assuming he'sfully recovered, there's no reason T.J. won't be dishing out six or seven assists per contest again in 2004-05.
