Seeing how there is no one from the main cast returning (like the other stright to dvd release) the studio needs a face and name from the original 3 to help sell it.

man, he was in the Olsen twins movie. He has no shame.
He probably signed a four movie deal, and when the others didn't (or had opt-out clauses), he was hosed and had to show for work.
