The Spurs CANNOT offer anything for him - q. frankly he plays the same position as Timmy - and he is a scorer as well - he needs touches during the game...The Spurs need more of a shot blocker and a GOOD rebounder at the center to help Timmy Duncan, who gets the touches at the low post and distribute the ball. Gasol wouldn't fit with the Spurs.

who says tim cant move to center?

I disagree. I am sick and tired of reading that everyone who might be traded to SA must play second fiddle to Tim.
Tim needs to learn play with other scorers or he has played for his last ring. He is already giving up the scoring to Parker and Manu. Why would he mind if Pau Gasol came on board.
Tim in my opinon is starting to decline so adding someone like Pau Gasol would extend his career. It would also be an insurance policy if he gets hurt or if he decided to retire in the very near future.
Make the trade, get the ring.

I kind of hope he goes to the Bulls before the season is over. I'm dying to see a serious contender in the East. Pistons, Heat, Wiz just don't scare me or anyone in the West I don't think...

Have the Spurs/Pop even mentioned or hinted that they are looking at him even? I doubt that with his price tag....

no way the spurs get Gasol, most likely he's going to Chicago. I'm hoping the spurs find their way into that trade and get someone from chicago like Nocioni.

Chicago is a natural fit for Gasol. They have the players to trade and need him now that KG isn't available. The Spurs aren't even close to having what it takes to get him.

That said, San Antonio could get involved as a third party.

I found this in the LA Times:

Insiders say Memphis keeps dropping its asking price for Pau Gasol, suggesting owner Michael Heisley has told Jerry West to forget fair value and slash the payroll.

The Grizzlies reportedly asked Chicago for Ben Gordon, Luol Deng and the Knicks' No. 1 pick, which the Bulls own. Now Memphis is down to Deng or Gordon plus another young player such as Thabo Sefolosha, P.J. Brown's expiring contract and a 2009 first-rounder.

Insiders say a few losses may bring the Bulls around. They just eked out a win in Seattle to go 1-1 on this seven-game West Coast trip, so stay tuned.

Memphis has to get at least two of the following out of Chicago: Gordon, Deng, the NYK #1. Otherwise they're foolish for themselves and unbalancing the league as a whole; Chicago practically gets him for free. That's the sort of vetoable trade you see in fantasy leagues.

When did Gasol become this cancerous player that absolutely has to be traded (a la Artest)? How did this situation evolve, or should I say "devolve" in to it's current state?

This guy is a possible 20+ppg 10rpg and all they want is an expiring contract and an undersized shooting guard that plays one position (granted he's good at that one position)....

Agree with Mr. Body, they've got to get at least two of the three mentioned above.

<What could SA do to get Gasol?>

NOTHING - THEY DON'T NEED HIM SINCE HE PLAYS THE SAME POSITION AS TIMMY and IS ALSO SOFT; see KG is a different story...
timmy can play eather 4 or 5 spot, same thing with gasol.Belive it or not they could be scary together in the paint.

Firstly they won't take Manu as he at best has 1-2 years left
Secondly, they won't take TP as his contract is quite high (although value for $).
What they want is very promising your stars with cheap contracts for the next 1-2 yrs so it means SPURS have zero chance.

Nocioni would be perfect for the spurs as well,if the spurs can do something as a third party.

Yeah, I think the only way for the spurs to get a good deal done is to be involved in a multiple teams trade, with Chicago or GS also involved for example.

It don´t matter where he goes to,Grizzlies´ll still suck.
They´ll just go with the best option for what they get in exchange out of gasol, eather from the east cost or the west cost, and in any division.
They can´t be worse tham right now anyways.

Isn't that the idea - get rid of Gasol, tank the rest of the season and get Greg Oden with the #1 pick?!
