A few weeks ago I got another reason to love Barkley. TNT was doing they're post game on a Lakers game and Kenny Anderson was talking about how he was impressed with the amount of leadership that Kobe was showing on the court and doing things for his team that he never did before. Barkley then interjects, "Well, yeah, but he's doing those things because he knows he has to. I think he's kind of like OJ Simpson now."
At this point Magic, Ernie Johnson and Kenny all give Chuck slightly puzzled looks. Charles replies, "Well, you know how OJ killed those two people a while back?" He then goes on to explain that what he means is that now OJ has to make sure that he doesn't get so much as a speeding ticket because he knows the public is just looking for something to hang on him. And so with Kobe the world is just waiting for him to play like a selfish brat and crucify him for driving Phil and Shaq, so he has to play like the ultimate teammate. (Of course, by reality has caught up with him and he's playing like a selfish brat most of the time).
Of course, none of Charles' broadcast colleagues can really reply to this. Magic Johnson is laughing so hard that his eyes are tearing up and Ernie and Kenny's jaws are still on the floor. God bless Charles Barkley.
