As a guest in the « Tony Parker Show », Bruce Bowen answered the many questions his teammate Tony.

Bruce, what are thoughts about our win against New York (99-81) ?

We have played well defensively. As opposed to last year, we are passing the ball better and thanks to this, all the players have the opportunity to score (5 players with more than 10 points against the Knicks). Personally, I missed some shots that could have helped Tony finish the game with fifteen assists! (Laughs)




As opposed to years in the past, we are staring the season with some very good wins. How do you explain that ?


The players and staff are conscious that we have a very good team this season, hence the good start. We gather upon this to focus on our start, as no one knows what the future might hold.




Do you think that we have a better team than last year ?

I am extremely happy about this team and everyone agrees to say that we have a very good team. The difference from last year is that group has not changed much and I think we are more solid than last year.




What is your feeling to know that the biggest scorers in the NBA hate you?
(Laughs) I do not pay attention to them. I am here to do my job but I can understand that some players do not care about me. It is tough for me to give you a name of a particular player; all I can say is that I have a difficult time against a player who attempts 30 or 40 shots per game.




Have you always been a defensive specialist or did it come at some point during your career?


During my first year in Miami in 1996, the team was made up of Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Jamal Mashburn and Dan Majerle. If I wanted to play, I needed to become a big defender or was not playing; hence I changed my playing habit from when I was in France where I was scoring 30 points.




Last year you were nominated in the best five defenders. What id this represent to you?


I was extremely happy as for the past few years I was nominated in the second team all defenders. I was disappointed to see that Ron Artest was elected best defender of the year ahead of me. I was robbed.
